    Default WTF Are These Taillights?

Saw this car at a show Sunday. It was an '83ish. Anyway they've got some tape stripes on them to further complicate things, but the basic lights themselves are not like any Mustang taillights I've ever seen.

Or just a red sticker covering the turn lense and half of the backup lense?

Those look like "pimp my ride tail lights".
    Looks like customized 83-86 lights.

You can see where the orange turn indicator was painted over along with half of the back up light lens.

I think Foxchassis and 86lx are correct. Someone used taillight repair film to cover the turn signal and part of the backup light. Then added the pinstripe tape in an attempt to mimic the SVO and 93 Cobra taillights.

Looks like someone was going for the 93 cobra/svo look and added the red stripe

Those tail lights are bad but I think the owner at least tried to keep them looking like factory pieces. The ones that came on my 88 turbocoupe were so much worse. Some how the PO had to make his own taillights out of sheet metal and screen. They were absolutely horrendous. I don't know if he ever drove with them. And the funny thing is he included a set of taillights when I bought the car. His ended up in the trash. I left the reflectors on the bumper as a reminder

Yep, you win the prize for the worse looking. I think I would have bought the car and told the PO hold on a minute...removed the tail lights and placed them under the tires, then he could see them being driven over.
