Default What needs to be done to make seats from a 03 fit into a 79

I was wondering how much work it would be to fit seats from a 03 gt into my 79, would fit in there nicely? Ive seen people put newer seats from a 14 in their later model foxes just not a 79 thanks in advance!

Have done this several times. Aftermarket bucket in Mustang, Escort GT bucket in Ranger.
The new seat's tracks are removed, and intended car's tracks are installed to new bucket.
The 79 tracks adapt the seat to the car. They don't care whats bolted to them.

If installing 79 seat to 03, the 03 tracks would be used on the 79 seat.
Tracks stay with the car because they fit the floor and correct tilt, height.
The upper track part that bolts to the seat frame is more or less straight. Universal fit.

Remove 03's seat base track assys from 03 seat frame. Will not be used anymore.
Transfer entire '79's seat adjustment track assys to the new 03 seat base frame.
Where the 03 seat tracks were. Some holes may line up.
Space tracks side to side to match spacing of 79 floor bolt mounts.
At the same time locate tracks evenly ft to back as desired.
    Mark locations.
Drill new holes in tracks or seat base as needed. Add metal plates if needed.
Bolt 79 track to 03 seat base frame.
Bolt new 03 seat to 79 floorpan.
    Enjoy.

I have never done it but I was under the impression the 94-04 were a direct bolt in. This is based on the power seat track from 94-04 has been used to upgrade to power seats.

Could be. Both mine were non-Mustang seats.

I put 94 seats in my 79. Put the 79 tracks on the 94 seats. 2 holes line right up the other 2 are there, but they need drilled and tapped. The best part is the extra headroom when you are done. I'm 6, 3. And my head hit the roof before and now I could wear a ball cap

I am putting 84GT seats in a 68 Mustang. Original 68 seat tracks fit right onto the bottom of the 84 seats. Only had to redrill front holes in 84 seat frame. Feels like I now have more leg room

fronts- bolt them in. all you need to do is adapt the power seat plug as the 03 is I think 3 prong and the fox 2 prong.
Rears- that is a whole nother story. You need to either fab up some brackets and modify the lower to get it to work or reskin your fox rear seat with the 03 material, which takes work on modifying the foam on your original seat.
1986 GT T Top- stock except for magnaflow cat back
1990 LX vert- 500hp V3 and all that stuff
    2013 GT- usual bolt ons
