Default 1986 GT Hatchback $4500 Or Reasonable Offer

Have a nice low mile, no rust 1986 Mustang GT hatch for sale. Some of the paint is worn in spots. Interior is nice with some wear on the red piping on the drivers seat. It was special ordered by a Ford employee. He wanted the car as light as possible. It does not have AC, it does not have Power Windows, It did not have a radio. It has cruise and power door locks. Engine compartment looks different with no AC. It has 100,343 miles on it. The under carriage has zero rust. I will post some pictures.

haha. Man every single one is turned the wrong way. You can't even put a laptop on it's side and view them. You have to keep turning it over. Not sure what is going on there bud. Sorry. At least you have pictures. That's more than a LOT of people do. Someone will come along and fix it for you.

Thanks sir, You can download each one then rotate in your picture viewer. Wonder if it is because I am on a MAC computer, looks like the site doctors fixed the picture orientation. Here are 4 more picturesName: 2018-07-19 10.44.24.jpg

Told you someone would fix them for you! Nice, honest original looking car. It looks very solid and complete. I always like that color combo. That speedometer is a certified calibrated police unit. Really cool. Maybe not "rare" but certainly unusual. Good luck with her. Surprised there aren't more comments.

I did not know that, this was my 2nd fox mustang and 1st GT 302. I thought by 1986 the speedometers where back to normal. The volvo I have from that era has a 120 mph speedo. I may just get a nice paint job and keep her, So happy not to see rust like I see some of you guys post about shock towers and such.

I don't blame you there. The smog pump and all plumbing is there. That car could sure be something if someone had the initiative. As far as the Odometer, yeah it's been changed but so what? It was only 5 digits anyway and most states now won't even register mileage on a car this old. The condition is what matters. It's not trashed, just used. Ohh, and you said the "CC is gone" I doubt that's the case. It probably didn't have clear coat. Most didn't back then. I'm not saying it didn't for sure. Some of the 1993 Cobras were not clear coat paint so just saying. That is not a guaranteed on those way back then.

Okay, no clear coat in 1986? Oh well. No rust no dents and no change in color should be easy. Mid 80 ford vehicles did not have good paint jobs that last in harsh environments like we have now. Just need the decals. And from what I found decals are still available. Plus found out not to use car washes that use high pressure and brushes. We have a hand wash place here that does a great job for a good price.

I would not guarantee there was NO clear coat paint but if there was, all of them sure were not. No worries. It's a nice car. Just hang on. You are not selling a 2018 Civic. It takes longer to find a buyer. Not the end of the world.

Any Ford car from that era likely had a bad paint job. You are correct. I am assuming you have the ability to wash your own car. If not, then I don't believe you will be able to restore this vehicle. It takes a lot more than a garden hose to restore a car.

I think car washes helped destroy the paint is what my thoughts are. It will need a complete paint job, glad there are no cracks in it. No bondo needed either.

Clearcoat paint was not available on Mustang until 1990.
