I have always wanted a 82 and found one yesterday. Paint and body could use a little help but its a pretty clean Arizona car. The last owner had upgraded the wheels/tires, suspension and installed some 85 GT interior in it. So far I like it.

Nice score! Looks to be in really decent shape on the outside! If there were more pictures, we could have been able to see the rest of it.

I have the factory air cleaner but not sure how to connect the hoses to it. Also believe the tilt wheel is gone. Want to change the wheel and maybe go back to tilt

Washed it up and clayed it today. Pulled off the trim and gettingit ready to paint Name: IMG_4177.jpg

Size: 95.8 KB. Not sure what color to paint the rain rail. The car isn't factory color from what I can tell since it has some metal flake in it. May try trim black to start

The roof rail would have originally been the black trim just as everything around the door windows and quarter windows. The sail panels would have been black too.

The issue with painting the roof rail black will be that it overhangs the current body color sail panels and IMHO that looks a bit strange.

The GT is looking great! Keep up the good work.

The rail has to be done black. The car has been repainted and has some metalflake in it. So matching it would be super hard

I'm pretty sure the T-top cars had the sail panels and window trim painted black. The solid roof cars had the sail panels painted body color along with the window trim.

The short "over hang" of the clip (which is visible on the clips in your photo) goes over the inner edge of the drip rail molding with the body of the clip inside the molding.

As mentioned those are the clips that hold on the roof rail trim pieces. I don't believe they are reproduced and can be very hard to come by, so definitely hold onto them!

I believe you are correct about the sail panels, I hadn't noticed that before. Although I believe all the window trim and the side mirrors were still painted the black trim color. I might be incorrect, but that is what I keep seeing with an image search.
