I was pulling the speakers and radio out of the dash of my 85 gt and I removed this as well not paying attention to what it was. Can someone tell me what it is?

That is a Ford factory installed audio amplifier.
'85 GT
Cool. Thanks.
Really? I thought it was just for generating alot of poisonous smoke while you are driving down the highway in traffic....
That's the factory amp for the premium radio.
By removing it, you have now voided the factory warranty! :-O
Oops, sorry, I was thinking of an '18 Stang.
You know, the only car sold in America by Ford (this year, and the following years).
So much for buying a Fusion.
:-( :-(
Fwiw, I disconnected my radio's factory amp back in the 90s.
Shh, don't tell anyone. I don't want Ford to void the warranty on my '86 Stang.
This is the amplifier for the Stereo Radio tape player Premium sound, all 4 channels went to the amplifier. For the Eletronic Radio Premium Sound, only the two front channels went to the amplifier.
Make sure you have ear protection handy when you pull that lever to turn that beast on.
