    Default pace car tires

Can anyone give me advice on where to start searching for the original 1979 pace car tires? Because of the size being metric I have been told they are difficult to find. The tread is great on mine now but I do have some cracking between the treads. Thanks in advance for any input. Dan

    Coker reproduces TRX tires:

Last I checked they only did the 220 size and not the 190 size. But it looks like they have 190 size listed.

    Not cheap by any means.

Otherwise, you can buy 16" TRX style from Late Model Resto:

Those are parts of the car i have no sentimental value for. They do look the best.
Dunno why i keep 2 sets, one set with 220 size tires on them.
Several rims do not hold air anymore no matter what. Not for a ddriver.
Tire stores used to bitch at them. Prob why they leak. The machines may have damaged something.
Suppose can use tubes if had to. Went to Mustang GT 15" Turbines. TRX tires got too hard to find quickly.
The 220 felt and looked better than the 190 and are the same od. They are VR vs HR speed rating.

LMR 16" would allow a much wider choice of tire.
    Coker 220/55/390 x 4 is 1325.00 using old rims.
Instead of spending the 1325 on 390's.
New LMR 16" TRX style rims only are 650.00. 1325-650 is 674.00 to spend on tires.
    Divide that by 4= 169.00.
Can easily get a very good tire with that 169.00.
Michelin TRX were advanced for the time.
Current tire tech has caught up to them.
Cant really say i notice any difference from switching but its been a while.

Save your self a lot of hassle and just go with the LMR 16 inch wheels. Hard to beat the price and your choice of tires is huge to say the least. I bought a set for my pacecar and never regretted it. Easy choice
