    Default 1982 gt dual exhaust

Picked up a 1982 GT and previous owner put true duals on. It looks like it was bolt on kit however it sits very low. Assuming its from the 86 up foxbody is that why its like this? Thinking about getting a x or h pipe on it and getting it tucked up a little better.

Starting in 85 the 5.0 received the dual SS Tailpipes. The 86 model was the first year for true dual exhaust from the headers back with the H pipe. Without pictures its hard to determine if what you have is a typical bolt on setup or just a muffler shop install.

Ill get pics tomorrow. Defiantly bolt on cause it has slip joints and clamps. Looks to be flowmaster mufflers. No tips or x/h pipe.

If they didn't change out the trans cross-member for a "double hump" cross-member....introduced in 1986 with the true dual exhaust system.....and they installed under the factory '82 cross member, then that could be the reason for it riding as low as you describe?

Any factory or bolt on kit will not fit on an '82 properly without changing the cross-member.

You should also check to make sure the axle mounted brake soft line is not touching, or is too close to, the exhaust pipe on the passenger side. That is where the brake line and the fuel lines run on pre 85 cars since there was only 1 muffler and tail pipe on the driver side for 79 to 84 models. Never had an issue but mine was about 1.5" away from the tail pipe until I converted to the centre mount brake line.
