    Default A few videos ...

Got a late start this season because of the long winter and wet spring, but in the process of shaking down my stuff and sneaking up on a the tune up. Fresh short block this season, first season on the G101a transmission, fresh clutch has been giving me fits.

Neat in car video, just a mid 10 second pass with the clutch slipping through 1st, and part of second.

Got the clutch to stop slipping finally and went right into spinning, lol. Got mostly ahead of that last Friday and went a season best of 10.27 with a weak 60'. I changes suspension around a bit and got the car to stop picking the front end up and just move out. Not sure it will stay this way, this pass was a 1.43 60' while I'm more used to 1.38 normal and 1.35 if I get at it a bit more.

2.3 liter turbo, 4 speed stick, 4.10 gear and 28-10 slick. I still drive it a lot, but trying to get it to go a 9.99 before the end of the year.

Very nice Bob. I could have sworn you were the guy who I started teasing about going after a single digit time slip a couple years ago and you said that wasn't in the plans. Must have been somebody else, huh?

I have so many teasing me about it that i feel like it needs done to check the box on this car.

As we approach the heat and humidity I’m thinking it won’t get done until fall air but we will see.

Racing there is deffinately not in the plans because I only have a 6 point bar and such. I’m quite happy with the car as a 10.50 kind of deal right now. That races good enough for what I do.

Tested a couple of weeks ago when we got a break from humidity ...

60' is a struggle at this point, but some bright spots.

This pass was 10.22 but at 137 mph ... https://youtu.be/mWnxnPM0r4I

Next pass I put a little more boost to it, worse 60', but it went 10.23 at 141 mph gaining 32 mph on the back half. It sure likes boost.

Spent the weekend on suspension stuff, went back to my 130# front springs from last year (switched to 150# this winter) and found a few other little things. hoping to test this weekend

Yeah I'd say it likes boost!

Exactly why I hated racing boosted cars. They close so fast on the top end, impossible for me to judge.

At that mph the single second time slip is sure to be yours soon. The fall air will do it if not before then.

    Nice videos too!

This confirmed I got the power in place. Hot weather focus is getting my 60’ back where I need it. I also need to find something in the 60-330 block too. I get them sorted and we shall see. Been laying under the car staring at the rear suspension, small tweaks, and yelling at it, lol ... took a big swing this week with a change to front spring rates and a ride height change.we will see how it does this weekend

Sure didn't find that single digit pass in 2018 ...

Car needs more gear to 60' what it will need. Last pass of the season was 10.09@134, 1.38 60' and 6.42@107 1/8th

    https://youtu.be/0RouatlamDw

I'm not disappointed as I never really "swung for the fence" ... After we raced in Kentucky at the end of September we got one single test in fall air. Pretty miserable with rain and cold this year. I really need to be back in the 1.34-1.45 60' range to find that magic 9 ...

That's awesome Bob! Looks like you need to update your signature with the new numbers. I hope to get to see your car run in person sometime. This past year was not a very good one weather wise. I hardly had my car out at all. Seemed like it rained every weekend.

Same here, it was pretty miserable.

I made a grand total of 52 passes this season, that's rather light. A lot of the events are enough of a tow that you looked at the forecast and made a decision on going ... I towed to like 4 events to get there and be rained out, likewise stayed home 5 or 6 only to have then get them in. Just terrible wet this year as far as drag racing.

    Those are awesome passes!

If it were me I’d look to carry 1st a while longer at a harder launch RPM if I’m seeing what it’s doing correctly. Like go to a V8 T5 so you drop from a 4:1 to a 3.35 low gear.

    Or maybe even a 2.95

my concern is you really don’t want yet another gear change up top. What you probably want is a better 60’ followed by all the gears being closer together. The V8 T5’s have a taller low and closer together ratios

You might try a hotter burnout and dropping the tire pressure a bit more too. Or try one at a time of course.....

If that doesn’t do it you could always add some more race gas and take the boost up some more.

study it in an RPM calculator. Generally you need a 137 trap speed to bust into the 9’s.

Where to start with all that ....

    Transmission is a 3.13 1st gear G101a ... http://i1192.photobucket.com/albums/...psb0k4lwpk.jpg

It needs more gear to better 60’ times. In that test we went from 6200 to 6800, that video was 6800 .., there is no higher going from 4.10 rear gear back to 4.30.

There is no gear change up tip, bar is in 4rg before the 1/8th mile and there are no more gears.

If I dropped tire pressure it makes slicks into a ball, itsure isn’t spinning on a 28-10.50 stiff wall slick.

Caris on Renegade 110+ pro fuel. I can add more boost but I get nervous above 28#

Car has been 138 mph but it’s not happy. Study it this was, went 10.09 last time out with 1.38 60’ ... car had been 1.354 60’ with 4.30 gear ... I will go into the 9’s at 135 mph when I get the 60’ back

Yea, couldn’t tell launch RpM was that high already. I was worried you wouldn’t have the R’s for the big end with a 4.30.

What weight of flywheel are you running?

Agree, a great 60’ will get you there.

im sure you’ve played with ride height vs spring rates in the rear also. What type of control arms and bushings do you have?

the other thing — how are you intercooling your boost? You using an ice box and pump or other options?
