    Default Blainer's new ride.

Here she is...a one owner 106000km 1982 GL 5.0 4 speed ttop car. Has almost everything a 82 gt would have except console, front air dam, and rear spoiler. A top of line stereo was installed 6 months after she purchased it. I will get more photos of the car once it's at home. I'm currently on vacation with the wife and my son. I even got a photo of the original owner and my son and I.

I lost the yellow power steering cap on the way home on the last stretch of highway. When I popped the hood in the garage it wasn't there. Good thing I had a spare black one in my box of goodies. I have to make a small list of items I need. I found more parts in the hatch area and spare tire area. Original parts bags for tire wrench and locking lug nuts that appear in New condition, lock nut decal that wasn't applied, Avis shipping tag that went on the signal arm, own Ford bra, and other unused parts and paperwork. Even the ttop bags look unused.

So clean on the inside. Just needed a light vacuum. I repaired the sagging rear part of the headliner with a heat gun and staples.

Finished the deoxidizing. Still need to clay bar and polish it. She needs a little touch up here and there but she sure shines.

Awesome car! I see the "in service date" of October '82 which probably explains the 83 Mustang sales brochure (which looks a little different from the US version) Cool find and all the documentation is a big bonus!

Last but not least the buck tags. I think there is a Ford racing exhaust on it as the muffler is quite small. I also noticed the steel smog pump pipe was deleted and plugged off along with a coke can egr block plate. I made a new rubber gasket for the valve cover oil cap.

The dreaded valve cover replacement needed to be done. Drivers side was easy as always but the passenger side was like playing with spaghetti...but I got it free! I stepped away from originality and went with the Del-pro permadryplus instead of cork.(Please don't use cork people!). Valve covers were spotless inside as the should be on a low mile car.
Next, as I moved the choke wire out of the way, a large area in the middle of the wire crumbled...so I found a white negative speaker wire and soldered it in. Then I covered it with a wire protector.
So I figured I was done with mishaps...wrong! The heat riser shield had rusted around the bold and was loose...crap! A generous coat of wd40 and some back and for pressure and the bolt came out . I actually had a replacement in my stash but I could use it. I found a bolt with a large washer attached from a Notchback I got the trunk lid off for my ttop coupe...lol. Boom! It was fixed.
Now I gave her a nice Motorcraft filter and some fresh 10w30 and greased the steering components.
Oh and I removed the hideous front rubber flaps.
Sure feels good to be working on a car again.
