    Default Dying interior panels

Figured before they go back in, it’s time to spray them. These big pieces are actually quite a pain, due to their size. First thing I did was take them into the tub, and thoroughly wash them with dawn dish soap, rinse, then wash again. From there I sprayed them with a wax and grease remover, then wiped them down twice with denatured alcohol, and did two light coats of an adhesion promoter and added some color. So far, so good. Looks great. Text me your address and I'll bring over some of the faded interior plastics from my wagon for you to do.

So that’s an 85/86 interior. What color SEM paint did you use?

They’re out of an 83. Believe it’s color code D, medium red. The big panels took almost a can a piece.

Do they need to be clear coated afterwards?
    No clear coat needed.

Which brings me to my next dilemma. A saggy headliner. The interior literally goes around the headliner. Researching headliners here, I believe I can fix it myself. But, Trey just recently told someone “roadworthy first, roadworthy, roadworthy, roadworthy”. So with the liner out, the black roof with the pretty aluminum rivets, might just have to get me by until winter. Besides, the way it tucks into the T top channel, looks to be a pita. Default Henry Ford official charcoal

    https://www.kingsford.com/country/about-us/

My black 1/4 panel trim, plastic flat top ledge at the side windows, has started to crumble away.
Hole appeared while cleaning ledge area with towel and cleaner.
Just like a metal rust out. Hole kept getting bigger the more it was pushed on.
Now have to reinforce and repair the area with metal or plastic and filler.
These parts are getting old and can lose integrity after 40 years of UV, heat/cold cycles.
Like dash pads do, except no cracks but total failure.
Other areas are fine and still flexible.

I sprayed mine with a gun and only used half a pint to do every piece of the interior with two coats of charcoal grey.

That looks super great! Looks like it’s just what the Dr ordered. My 1986GT has a red interior too. So many don’t like them but when the car is black I think it goes.

In my car I customized a bunch of stuff. Black behind and above the door trim in the lock area, went with black carpet, did a stretched black leather over the dash pad, etc.
