Default change header gasket on 84 LX 5.0

Theres a ticking that may be an exhaust leak on my 5.0. My local machine shop guy thinks i should swap the driver side header gasket first.

Looks easy enough to do in the driveway. I'm just wondering if I will need to detach the header from the H pipe of if theres enough wiggle room to move it away from the engine once the 8 bolts are removed?

Also do you guys suggest using copper gasket sealer on the header gasket or place it in dry?

I would loosen the h pipe , not remove it , nust to give you more flexability .
I dont use gaskets at all , just a bead of copper based permatex silicone .
Have not had a leak in over 20 years .
