I vote to modify it to your liking, just be sure not to go over board and butcher it up. Restore the body and trim to look like it did new. Add a three peice spoiler. Then a nice 5.0 roller with a mild cam, heads intake and carb, 8.8 axle and gears and a t-5. That’s me though.

Your car = whatever you please I would try to add the Saleen/MacLaren look to it....add a lower valence to the front, side skirts and the rear spats or valence.

-1 on the spoiler. As great as they look, it doesn't belong on a 79. At this point it is more unique and cool without it.

That said, it's your car to play with. Do what makes you happy. Just don't drill that nice clean flat hatch. :P

TOTALLY agree with Lowetlx! Maybe because that's exactly what I'm doing. I added an '83-'84 front end though, to finish it off.

I like the the Black/Orange color combo, but since you have a black car, If you decide to repaint it, the Grey/Charcoal RS Striping looks super sweet too! Make it what you want, but just keep it and do it (Don't take 30 plus years to do it like I did though)!

Back in the '90s, a kid that I went to school with bought one exactly like that; '79 RS, Black/Orange, Red interior, 5.0/4spd. I think it had a Sunroof too. Kid sold is almost immediately to another kid who blew the engine and installed a '74 302 from a Torino. Another kid bought it, and Aero-ed it out 2 years ago, the kid stripped it out, and sent what was left to the crusher. Sad.

Interior parts for the Capri are the same as the Mustang. The door panels are specific to the 79 and early 80 models due to the low door handle placement.

The rear inner quarter panels are essentially the same from 79-86, although I believe the 79-82 are the same and there is a slight change in the area under the rear quarter glass so the 83-86 are different. They will interchange, but keep that in mind.

Center consoles are the same and dash is essentially the same from 79-86, again with the caveat that stereo opening changed on the later models. Not a big deal if you want an aftermarket stereo, but can be if you want to stay stock.

The carpet, seat materials, etc. are generally reproduced although they may not be a 100% match to your 79 model. Good Luck!
