Iirc the balance between the 85 engine and 68 C4 tranny is different. You wiil have to change the harmonic balancer and flex plate.
I dont know if the wires from the 2.3 harness for sending units i.e. Oil pressure and temperature sending unit will be long enough to reach the V-8 sending units.

The harness can be made to work by lengthening, shortening or repositioning wires.

What transmission crossmemer do i use
I would look for a dual hump crossmember so you can run dual exhaust.

Probably not. It depends on the bellhousing on the C4. 68 Mustangs used a 157 tooth flexplate where AODs use a 164 tooth flexplate. Either way since your engine is an 85 it will have a 50oz imbalance and the flexplate needs to match that balance.

The throttle cable may not work, you may need a larger capacity radiator along with all the radiator hoses. You will also have to figure out the fuel system.

That is a 164 tooth flexplate. If the bellhousing has not been changed on your C4 you will need a 157 tooth 50oz balanced flexplate.

If you buy a new one I don't think the mount tubes are welded yet so you can move it where you need and then weld the tubes. Since I put an AOD in mine yes I used an AOD crossmember.

You can always cut the welds off the tubes and readjust the crossmember's location.
