Default Returned to FEP after a very long hiatus

Yeah, looks like it’s been 8-9 years since I last logged in. Family life has been so busy and hectic all these years. The old Mustang GT became a low priority and got buried in the garage. I want to get it running again. It has been sitting for probably 6 years since the last time I took it out for a drive. I’ve been researching best practices for getting it back on the road. So, I would like to connect here with folks that have had to go through this same process with their old Fox. I have a brand new Motorcraft battery ready to go!

Welcome back! It does happen that life gets in the way. But at least you were able to keep your car. It looks great! I can't help with getting it back on the road but I'm sure someone will come along that can help.

Thanks fascat! Another reason for the return is, I’ve quit using most social media and I’ve been going back to the old forums.

You gave up liquor and just stick to beer now eh? ;-)

Welcome back! I had an account here when I was 16 back in the early 00’s and just recently returned myself.

Keep us posted on the car!

Motorcity An engine that has not started in 6 years sounds to me like a new thread .

    Welcome back!
I have to try and start my 85 2.3 after 4 years of sitting. All the fluids were changed before it's slumber so I hope those are OK, I also filled the gas tank with Stb-bil in there. Must check brakes to see if seized/pedal pressure. New fuel filter with the rebuilt carb , new belts for sure.

    Hi Motorcity,
Almost couldn't do anything on my car for 10 years. But got to driving it again since 2021.
I stopped with Facebook. Same bad experience. I did point a number of foureye owners to here though .

I always makes sure the engine spins OK before I actually start it. 6 years is not that long and I highly doubt the rings "took a set"... I would fire it up and see how it goes and make sure you have oil pressure (that is always the first thing I look at).

Like others said, the freshness or "lack of freshness" of the gasoline is a concern. How much fuel is in the tank? If it is near empty you could throw fresh gasoline in there.

We got my buddies 90LX started after 20 years of storage. We had to put a new fuel pump in the tank and fresh gasoline. The antifreeze had gelled too and had to tackle that... You are 6 years and my main concern would be fuel related and then go from there
