I use royal blue wax on my 5th wheel with decals and it has kept them from fading and cracking and it actually shines them back up like factory. And what I really like is how easy it is to wipe off and leaves no powder like most waxes. Only problem is you can only get it at big car shows like Goodguys or Order it online like I do.

3M site says no wax, suggesting not as to it messing up the vinyl, but the adhesive under.
They talk mainly about washing decals, wraps.
UV decal protectant is prob best on vinyl. Wax may ruin painted or vinyl matte hood blackout panels.
Thought:
Waxing car, wax builds up on edges of decal. Decal/stripe is x mils thick.
App and buffing rubs edge of decal, may wear it and force tiny bit of wax under decal edges.
Weakens adhesive bond on very edge. This progresses further into decal edge over ?? time.
An old retailers trick for wax build up around decals is to use a soft bristle tooth brush along the edges of the decal to remove wax.

Sonic blue pearl, sand beige, netted halos, FR500 wheels and shiny under the hood.
WD-40 on a rag with your finger tip or small tool is also great for removing wax residue on plastic trim.

I usually just apply paste wax thinly about an inch or so from the edges of the decals and carefully wipe around. Been doing this for years with no residue
