    Default Hello from Georgia

Hello from southern Georgia. Not new to Mustangs, but new to owning my own. Grew up with family that owned them, and a neighbor that owned a collection, some pretty rare. Today I bought a 83 glx convertible with a v6, 91k original miles, completely original. Did the tuner thing, with my civic and golf, but always wanted my own mustang, and now that I have one, I realize I've got a lot to learn.

Thanks. Essentially a barn find. Seller said he got it from a couple that used it solely at their vacation home in the summer and had had the dealership go through it each year for maintenance. Needs a little work, but that's the fun in buying a car like this.

As I'm new to the mustangs, I've tried to decode my vin, as I found a discrepancy. My title lists it as an 84 glx, yet I've found no record of an 84 glx. Vin decoder lists it as an 84 lx. I'm wanting to maintain originality (badging, etc), so how do I determine what I've actually got? Any info would be appreciated.

Welcome to FEP. Very,Very nice Looking car. You really found a good one. My youngest son has been into the Rice burners for years and finally gave up trying to out run my mustangs and bought a 1990 GT mustang and loves to drive it and sold his ricers.

Welcome to the site and congrats on your new Mustang! Watch those tires. They look like the original rims and likely very old metric rubber tires! They make newer 17" versions of those rims now. Re-pop original tires are $$$ at Coker only.

Try posting your information in the production numbers section and you should get a personal breakdown from the decoder guy.

    Welcome!

    nice ride!

The LMR TRX rims are 16” and look good. If those are originals the metric tires are crazy expensive.

Great looking vert. I like the blue. Your 84 is an LX, they dropped the GLX in 84 and went to LX. Never look at the title they often have incorrect model information.

Thanks on the info. They are the original metrics. However, I picked up a set of 10 holes for it today and will be storing the metrics, as I found it a better option than the expensive tire replacement. The reason I asked about the VIN, aside from the title, is that when I went to go get spark plugs from the store, their computer didn't list the 3.8 as an option, but did for an 83. I plan on using the thread on here to try to figure it out.

Motorcraft sp429. Is the plug you need. They can cross reference that if you choose a different brand. The car will look great with the 10 holes.
