    Default Cowl hood for fairmonts

Does anyone offer a cowl hood for fairmonts? I have a 78 futura with a motor swap and the intake interferes with the hood a decent amount.
I’m looking for a 4+” cowl but all I see is the add on cowls that will look like total crap I assume.

Also I’m blown away how heavy the trunk lid is on this car, anyone offer a fiberglass one?

Personally, I think any cowl hood looks like crap on a Ford. Ford made a number of nice looking hood scoops over the years, that would look better, AND actually serve a function than just block you vision.

Interesting. Anyone have any weight #s for their parts? I may spring for all 3 parts eventually, if the weight savings are worthwhile.

Many years ago I ordered a Fairmont fiberglass hood for my 78 2 door sedan, but ended up never installing it. The quality looked very good, but when I weighed my stock hood and the fiberglass hood, there was only 7 pounds differance. The stock steel hood just isn`t terribly heavy. For that little bit of weight, having to paint the hood, and having to make it a lift off, I decided to keep the stock hood and hinges, much more convinient. The stock trunk lid is fairly heavy, but since its at the rear of the car, I left that stock too. And since my car came with nice, straight "naked" bumpers , I kept them as well. The stock bumpers are aluminum, and after I removed the energy absorbing shock stuff, and the bolted in bracing inside the bumper channel, I weighed the OE bumpers, and was suprised at how light they were.
