    Default Side mirrors

I've got a pair of the manual adjust side mirrors that are kind of loose. The mirrors are loose in the housings. Is this repairable or should I trash them? The housings are nice, which is why I ask.

I will be watching this thread closely. Mine on my 85 are also bad.

There is a small cast aluminum hinge/pivot/thingie in the mirror that bents over time. Once bent the cables get slack in them preventing taught and responsive actuation. I have had 50% luck in bending the pivot straight again. Either it breaks or it doesn't. I wish they sold an aftermarket billet one but I doubt such a small and insignificant item would ever be reproduced.

I dis-assembled one of the mirrors. The pivot/hinge thing was broken. It would be nice if there was a replacement for the mirror/cable assembly. I guess I'll just keep the housing. I replaced the one on my LTD with an NOS one I got on ebay.
