Thread: 85 SVO Resto

    Default 85 SVO Resto

Figured I’d follow up with an actual build thread since I just about completed the car and have posted pics on different threads.

    First day:

    Tear down:

    Off to the body shop:

    Some small hiccups:

Then some paint: paint is Dodge Tru Blue Pearl Metallic

And then there was an engine rebuild, nothing fancy. Schlodes intake, Evergreen turbo, big valves, light port, Engle cam, Gnari front mount and a Stinger exhaust.

Then a new suspension and brakes. Everything upgraded to SN95 but I just rebuilt the stock rearend:

Then the almost completed SVO. Still need to finish redoing the interior. I’m converting it to all black. I’m about 50% complete. I need to get a seat cover set. Made sure all the lights worked. Got the car running. I have some tuning gremlins that I need to sort out. New rims and tires are on the way.

Last thing...car needs to go back for a final buff. I’m going to have my body guy do something with the stripes. Not sure yet but I’ll make it a little better than it is now.

Nice looking build! Are you reusing the stock tailpipe? I'd be interested in it if not.

Unfortunately the tailpipe was rotted on the bottom so it got tossed.

Well. I found the gremlin I’m in having while running. Basically the cold start is horrible and it seems like there is a misfire or not enough enrichment going on. Pulled codes. 58. Open circuit in the VAM. Went thru the test procedure and the circuit for the VAT is open. Explains the rough start and lean condition I have. I’m also thinking it’s the culprit why the car stalls coming down to an idle when you blip the throttle. It’ll idle for days but crack the throttle and it won’t come back down to an idle. Just stalls. I’ve cleaned the IAC and swapped w a good one. We’ll see if the VAM fixes it.

Started redoing the interior. Converting to black and going with different seats. Got the dash wrapped up. Had the dash bezels hydro dipped in carbon.
