Default 1993 LX Convertible LE with 17K miles un restored

i am buying this car local to me this week. its in spectacular condition with dealer books and window sticker. a file full of maint. receipts over the years. 2 owners last since 96. white top, yellow body, white with black interior, auto. 100% stock. only changes are recent tires and battery, nothing else has been replaced. very much loved in near mint shape. true survivor.

can i get a good idea of value, i don't have the car yet so no pics but have bill of sale with owner and deposit.

Thats a good find as the white top/interior was bit more rare for the Canary cars....but the 5spd yellow/white is the most rare. The AT hurts the value a bit in most peoples opinions. As a reference, I paid $20k in 2015 for my Canary feature (black top/interior & 5spd), with only 2,500 miles. At this point in time (and considering all the Barrett Jackson BS)...if the car is as mint and original as the 17k miles would suggest. If you are getting it for anything under $20k then you should be quite happy. If it was a 5spd car it would be north of $20k for sure.

Maybe a bit lower, say $15k. The 90s are still going down in price per blue book. The 80s have been going up in price over the last couple of years. 17k Miles is a bit high to command top dollar.

the guy i am getting it from has the same exact car in 5 speed as well which he recently bought to replace the auto. his new one has about 35K miles and he paid around 20K and he knows these cars. says his new one is not mint like the auto but nice.

There is nothing wrong with paying a bit more for something that really gets your attention. On the same note, having two and needing to sell one does not help the price go up.

Yes the 80's seem to be doing pretty well right now, but the 92 and 93 Features have also been doing rather well the past few years. If the guy paid $20k for 35k mile car that was not mint, then he REALLY had to have it I still say $20k or under on the car you are buying (as described) is a good deal....and if you were lucky to be closer to $15k then a GREAT deal. I have seen PLENTY of ~15k mile cars that are still mint, including two in my garage....so I don't really consider that "a bit high" unless it was an abused/lived outside 15k miles.

And I agree there is nothing wrong with paying a premium for a car that you really want. Just know you won't get that premium back anytime soon, so hopefully its a keeper or at least a 5-10 yr car for you.

Uh...Edited my post and this is what happened. Strange...

thanks for the replies. the car is pretty damn mint. only issue is the top has some black scuffs on it from being lowered. not sure how to get that off, but plan to try once i get it later this week. i will buff wax it too and that is it.

Keep in mind the Canary cars were Clearcoat (as I believe they all might have been by 1993), so that makes maintaining the finish much easier than the single stage you may be use to on the Four Eye's

I believe 90 was the first year for the clearcoat, atleast thats what I've been told about my 90LX. It has the dark clear coat titanium metallic, black top and black leather interior, 1 of 50 in those trim options.
