Default Did ford put HO roller cams in any 351's ?

While I'm looking around at the junkyards...just curious if anyone knows off the top of their head if Ford used the same HO mustang cams in any 5.8 motors (perhaps 90's trucks) etc.

    Thanks in advance

    The 1993-95 F-150 SVT Lightning had the same cam as 1982-84 and 1985 CFI H.O. 5.0L Mustang/Capri.

The F4TE 351W block is roller cam ready. Doesn't guarantee it has a roller cam in the block, but that block is capable of running any 302 HO or aftermarket roller camshaft.

Its the truck cam. Its a special type of cam (listed as Version 4, below) Ford made after 1986 to 2001 for OHV V8 SBF's. Cams are listed below to compare. Thanks Walkin'Tall.

All 94-97 351 windsor engines are equiped with hydraulic roller camshafts.

Its the Explorer 5.0 cam, basedon a roller cam version of the ancient 351M and 400 Ford 2-bbl cam profile.

Stock 94-97 F4TE cam specs: 256/266 degree duration (advertised) Lift with 1.7 rockers: .445/.473 , Lobe centerline angle is 116. This cam is just a tad less than a GT/HO cam in lift and duration with 1.6 rockers. Works great with a carb too. The exact same cam used in the 94-2001 5.0's in pickups, vans, Explorer's and Mountaineers.

It looses 10 hp on a stock 225 hp HO EFi 5.0, and the F3 ZA-CA cam looses about 4 hp on the stock 225 hp 1986-1993 cams.

For instance, the Australian Ford 5.0's got the 1993 Thunderbird cam spec, and made 221 hp net with it.

1993-1995 "Cobra R" roller cam. Interesting, maybe little known fact, that the F3ZE-CA camshaft was snuck into some '93 Thunderbirds and Cougars...

I can tell you that even though 1994-95 Lightnings had a roller block (F4TE), they still had a flat-tappet camshaft from the 1973 Torino 351W 4V engine, same as what the early H.O. 5.0L engine used.

The 1993 Lightning had the 'old' non-roller block, except for maybe a few at the end of the model year that got the 'new' roller F4TE block.
