Thread: Hello from CA

    Default Hello from CA

    Hi all,

First, thank you for allowing me to join FEP.

I currently have a 1985 SVO that I’ve owned for about 10 years.
I drive it occasionally on weekends. There are still some things to improve/repair such as
a heater core swap and AC work.

I hope I uploaded the pictures correctly.

Welcome, nice SVO, still with the Cali Blue Plates, very nice. Tell us more about this beast, is it all-stock?

It is an 85.5. It is pretty much stock. Not engine upgrade yet since the engine had not been rebuilt.
I figured I’d keep it that way until the time comes to rebuild the engine. When it is rebuilt, probably be a modest
    modifcation.

In the interim, the leather seats are out of the car and period correct SVO cloth seats are in place until I’ve saved enough $$
buy TMI SVO leather seat replacement.

It it does have after market sunroof that the original owner had installed. Kind of a bummer but at
least it has not leaked yet.

    Yes, blue CA plate.

Nice, I have a 9l 85.5 but it looks like a titelist golf ball from a hail storm last spring....but it runs great.

Welcome to the site! Nice, clean looking SVO you have there! My '86 has cloth seats originally and a factory sunroof

How many miles on your baby? Does the SVO have any California emissions issues or challenges to keep on the road?

    Leave it stock!
That's a rare car and much more valuable unmodified.

    Thanks everyone.
It has 108K miles and so far, it has passed CA’s emissions since taking ownership back in 2007 without any work. Knock on wood it will pass the next one.
I’ll take your advice to heart of keeping it stock.

Very nice car. You should have no problems with smog. These were hi-tech cars for the time period. I see the seat belt recall was not completed. You should check into that. Pm me if you need more info.

Welcome! Always nice to see a clean SVO. Great cars and a blast to drive. We had an odd CA day here yesterday, almost 80°, so I went for a 30mile drive. How can an old 4 banger car be so much fun to drive?
