Default 1986 Capri Jalapena Red, mint

    Claimed 3000 miles.

If anyone can paste photos from the ad, this would be great to hang onto after the ad goes down. Thanks.

Mufflers and tail pipes are wrong.

Hose clamps on radiator hose is wrong, probably so are the hoses and belts.

    Battery is a Never Start.

Chrome around the door handles and window switches ...... not sure. I'm thinking it's supposed to be black.

I got it! Those are Mustang seats, not Capri seats.

Also: for 20Gs, maybe you can roll it outside and take some decent pictures! Argh!

    Exhaust, battery, splashguards.
    Hoses & clamps are good.

Kind of odd to NOT post an odometer picture though.

    Really nice Capri.

Does a battery really count as a modification? That's like saying a Wix oil filter is a mod.

And if Capris used that same upholstery (what I was actually referring to) and everything, that's lame.

That battery gets points deducted in unrestored classes, just like a Wix filter would...

OK DadBox, you have held us in suspense long enough now. What are the mods?

The other question that I have is: why is this car on the Flagstaff Az. Craigslist, when it is located in Boston?

Hey guys, all I saw was the cat-back. Battery and hose clamps takes it to another level!! Nice car.

Watch some moron LS swap it now...... I've never understood the ability of some people to completely destroy a well preserved and nice car. Burr under my saddle from seeing the evidence of stupid with my 85 costing me big I guess.

Sometimes I think I probably should have just gutted it out and parts swapped everything from my rusty 86.

There may come a day when two dead horses make one nice one yet. Time will tell.

Not sure I understand the need to do a Flowmaster Cat-Back on such a low mile car...but then again it was a very common modification back then and there are MANY NOS Take-Offs out there from claimed single digit mile cars. I have one in my stash actually, so it's obviously possible

I see nothing wrong with the radiator hose or the factory clamps that are on it.

85-86 Capri RS got the same sport seats as the Mustang GT.

I BELIEVE the chrome PW switches was a Mercury thing, not LX vs GT like on the Mustang?

The Gatorbacks to me scream never driven. I'd have to see the DOT code to tell if original or newer re-pops. Not that would impact value too much IMO.

The aftermarket battery or filter would have no impact on me if I was the buyer, as they can easily be corrected.

As for getting it out for pics and why Boston vs Arizona....well it is winter time. Probably wintering in AZ and had a family member take the pictures while its still nasty in New England.

If this car is as legit as it appears, I see no problem with the asking price. It's a $16-18k car all day at that level of originality and miles....the Cat Back can be corrected as they are out there in NOS Take-Off condition. Would just take some patience to find one.

We're going to have to drag Mick in on this one I guess. I thought the Capris had grey piping instead of red but otherwise the seats were identical. I know at least some model of Capri had grey piping as opposed to the red.

Maybe you are thinking about sport seats in '83-84 before the '85-86 seats came along. I've seen several 85-86 Capri RS's that had the same seats...including one in Indiana that I looked at for Jeff (Capriman) several years ago. I'd upload a picture but I keep getting some darn quota error.

Checkout images from factory brochure: https://www.google.com/search?q=1986...a0EVR-lFTlCZM:

And this one that shows the seats and chrome PW bezel: https://www.hemmings.com/magazine/mu...L/1764958.html

On a lx mustang would the switches be chrome or black. Most Lx pics I see are chrome but, My 84 lx has all black switches and bezels, door handles, door locks and front and rear windows. Always wondered what the difference is.

I get a little confused with Capris, too, but I think it was one of the ASC McLarens (maybe the Eurocoupe?) that got the seats with the gray piping.

told me the same, it was really nice. I've always wanted one of these. Really nice fella. I especially liked the factory tu-tone on it. Overall looked like a very original car aside from the mufflers, but, I had to replace those as well in the past so no big deal. The original finishes on this car really pop. The engine compartment was nice as well along with the undercarriage, so nicely stored. I would have been really interested in seeing more of the undercarriage. This car was very similar to my old tu-tone 86 GT in same trim scheme.

Any chance this is the same car? If it is, the underside sure looks a lot different. Not that it makes any difference. Just curious. https://www.autoblog.com/2010/06/25/.../#slide-286629
