    Default Re-chroming plastic-DIY?

Had the grill done for my dads LTD.
Really nice work, guy said he sanded each
part of each little square, in 3 grades of sand paper
(killer amount of work, and he did say he used some form
    of spray on chrome)

    Also charged accordingly ($600).

So I bought 5 new PW/PL bezels in black.

Also bought an NOS drivers LTD/Marq master PW switch

So I want the rest of them to look like that.
    (black center, chrome outer)

My chrome guy wants $55 each, or $275 for all 5
(3 single PW and two PL)

Been also a looking at DIY chrome kits.
    Couple U-tube vids look promising,
just wondering if anyone has ever tried anything this stuff.

Below is a video I had watched the other day. Results looked very good. No reason you cannot apply this to plastic parts as long as they are prepped accordingly.

I have used the Killer Chrome spray cans by Alsa Corp. Very cool stuff and does produce a very chrome like appearance.

I will warn that spraying it correctly is all about technique. I would highly recommend watching the videos, reading the instructions, and practicing before attempting your parts. The parts have to be sprayed a high gloss black as the video above shows. Then the Killer Chrome is misted over the parts. LIGHT LIGHT Coats are the key and the trick. If you try to spray it like regular paint, you will NOT get the chrome like look.

I do believe that the new Easy Chrome may be an easier to apply option. I also believe the Chrome FX Pump system may be an easier application, but both have a much higher price point. That was the main reason why I bought the Killer Chrome over the Pump System a couple of years ago. Good Luck!

Yea, that was my impression from the last video I listed.

Think I am going to hold off for now and just have them done.
Sounds like it may take some practice, and I still have to finish
the rest of car by April when the car shows start back up.

Really appreciate the info, might still give it a shot at later date.
