Not a bad deal for $200 IMHO, but that POOR Capri! Best of luck with the resurrection.

I feel a similar pain with my 82 RS!

It may look rough but if the worst part is what you see, it may not be all that bad. Being an 86 makes it workable for the drivetrain.

looks rough but I would buy it for $200 . If it where around here in MI it would not be worth its weight for scrape because of the rust. And scrape is $110 a ton

Score! A $200 car around here would have nothing left from the molding down. Especially and interesting car like a Capri.

Save yourself some $$$. Start by buying a cracked up 87-93 or 94-95 mustang to gut for parts.

The Capri’s were kind of limited in production (more so then Mustang anyway). They must be a real challenge when it comes to specific parts? I hardly ever see any for sale in the Wisconsin area. At least ones worth having.

The Capri is the Black widow of all Fox bodies. Especially the cars with the LN7 glass hatch. It lookes just like the 69-70 Cougar Eliminatator did, sort of familiar, but packed a bite sized engine under the hood.

You've got a few options regards either using the stock kind of 1986 engine specs. Its all dependant on what paper work you have. This isn't Secrete Squirrel stuff, the Air pump CA engines have a large amount of scope for change, same as the Miata 5.0 swaps really.

I'd be very supprised if you can't use 100% factory stock parts to get 295 hp and still pass emissions.

If you want something radical, then ask BAR about an 1997-2001 OBDII Explorer Mountaineer 5.0 215 hp engine swap, and keep the air pump, and swap in the Aussie parts (GT40P heads, EO approved headers, a sort of US Cobra spec cam, better roller rockers and the not quite OBDII wide open throttle trim) ....they take it back up to 295 hp when in wide open throttle mode.

The basic default calibration is the stock Explorer one, the Aussie car had a better MAF, bigger injectors on the last two versions in the 268 to 295 hp range, and a compression bump.

There is a twin table option that allows you to pass the normal at cruise emissions standard if you are being road side tested by photo electric camera. Aussie OBDII was down graded, so fitting it into your CA car is just a a few extra sensors, so the CEL still works, and you can pull codes.

Started in 1996 with non ODBII E7 headed 228 hp engines, then GT40 non P 248 hp, https://www.motoring.com.au/ford-el-...996-1998-3299/

then the GT40 P headed AU Falcon got either

    http://australiancar.reviews/Ford_Windsor_V8.php

170 is the 235 hp/291 lb-ft (Aussie version of the Explorer engine with a 237/264 lobe lift cam the 1996-2001 Explorer 5.0 F4TE-6250-BA 256°/266°at lash 422/448 thou lift at valeve cam ),
    185 is the 248 hp/304 lb-ft , (Same Explorer /Mountaineer Cam)
    200 is the 268 hp/310 lb-ft , (F3 ZE-6250 CA cam, timed the same as the USA 5.0 Cobras and 91-95 Falcons and some 93 MN12 Tbirds and Cougars...to 19/71 intake and 75.5/14.5 exhaust )
then the 220 is the 295 hp/321 lb-ft for the XR8's (F1 ZE-6250 AA cam, the 88-93 HO 5.0 cam). Some SVO Y 303 Alloy heads were briefly used for some of the cars produced, which were 213 cfm and 135 on the exhaust heads at 28"Hg, same as the Synergy GT40P's which were re CNC ported by Yella Terra.

Then the 250 is the killer 80 mm MAF and 82 mm Throttle body, a totally new revised Intake 335 hp/369 lb-ft for the 5.6 liter stroker, which went back to the more radical 1988-1993 5.0 HO cam (F1 ZE-6250 AA) and it was reclocked back to 15/81 intake and 62/24 exhaust from the 88-93 models 20/76 intake and 67/19. The roller rockers were 1.72:1 Yella Terra. It had 1992-1995 Porsche 5.4 liter 928 GTS like power and torque with a very basic Explorer block and it proved just how good the basic 5.0 block is without forged pistons, 32 valves or any alloy heads.

    http://australiancar.reviews/Tickford_V8_Engine.php

At 268 hp, the F3 ZE-6250 CA "Cobra" cam kicked in. The 295 hp had the Cobra cam and roller rockers. The roller rockers were Ford MotorSport "Crane" 1.6:1 roller rockers.

You can baseline tune the stock US Exploder 5.0 computer, and fatten up the wide open throttle air fuel, and hammer the advance and ramps a lot more in a light 3000 pound car that is 900 to 1000 pounds lighter than an SUV.
