That's AWESOME! Great Minds must think alike! I was doing the exact same modification to a set of Capri lights for my 82 GT. You have beaten me to completion, but I will get there some day!

It was 40 years ago today that my Futura rolled off the assembly line in Mahwah, NJ. It hasn't rained in several days, the sun was shining, and the was no salt on the roads (yet), so I celebrated by taking the Futura out and going for a drive.

Take a birthday pic of the Futura before it gets dark out.

Mine turned 40 on 10/5. Pic taken that day. Almost forgot to take photo. Funny how telephones can now do that job.
Have the moldings missing in pic stowed due to bodywork. The chrome headlight doors are also stored.
Car was repainted but not color sanded and buffed out yet.
Driveway paint job w/ Duplicolor ready mix Black. Had to use it up before it went bad.
Paint and body work is pretty much an annual event with this car. Am fine with that.

Started her after a year (2 years outside);- fired right up while jumpstarting cause the battery died although charged last week. Happy with it. Sorry, vid too big to share.

And filled the recently rented garage with parts I've collected over the years. Lol: need to build racks cause Musty does not fit in now.

Got a new roof skin for the $400 Capri! Pulled from a 93 GT (RIP). This was the first step of the cars build. Going to get the car stripped, engine out, plastics off the car. Then going to mothball it while I build an engine for boost. Already got a Ford 9 inch rear from my dad out of his Studebaker. I figured I would get the roof skin now while I have foxbodys in the pick and pull near me. Someday I won't be able to find them anymore in the junkyard and as a wise man once said. Get it while it's there.

Received my new MM clutch quadrant kit and ordered a MM 1 1/8" front swaybar with new endlinks a couple days ago. Going to order a 1" TB spacer off ebay soon to finishing eliminating the EGR valve.

Can't wait until I'm done doing drywall on the ceiling of my garage (walls were already drywalled and insulated when I bought the house). Ceiling will only be R-19 insulation for now, better than nothing.

Drove it this evening to run errands. Cold drizzle.
Got caught in a weather change resulting to icy roads 20 miles from home.
The kind a 4 cyl in 3rd gear, at 1000 rpm/15 mph, can spin the tires at a touch of gas.
Fun way to start a new year.
Not worried about me, it was the ignoramuses who rely on high tech driving aids rather than skill and common sense.
And think they are invincible and can overdrive conditions. Many spin outs or worse.
Made it home safely taking back roads.

    Default chilly willy day trip

Good weather for penguins today in Metro Detroit.
Drove car to Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn. Annual open house on MLK Day. Crowded. Nice time.
Roads varied dry, wet, salty slush patches. Car is no stranger to those conditions.

Was -20 overnite. Had car's onboard battery charger plugged in all night.
I miss a block heater. Have to install the new one.
Started car at 11a to head out. Air temp=zero. Starter turned 1/2 what it usually does. Took few minutes to start.
Carb has no choke assy whatsoever. Once started, pumped pedal for a minute till engine stayed running.
All the plated metal parts in the interior had frost on them. WW fluid frozen. Seat belt buckle button stuck.
Outer edges of WS defroster vents were sucking in exhaled breath vapor. Never seen that before.
Thick vinyl passenger seat cover edge started cracking bad like ice when leaned on.
Funny, windows never frosted up, except for the back glass.

Car ran great rest of day, high temp of 16°. The turbo engine loves frigid air.
Prob had the only carbureted car on the road. And the oldest one in the museum lot.
WW fluid thawed on way home. Never had to use the driver's seat heater.

Sanding my replacement bumper cover and spoiler.
Thought it was cracked at both sides pretty bad. Turns out to be one 4" crack. The rest was cracks in 1/4" bondo layers. Phew.

Found out no one repairs this material here. I"l order some repair stuff from the US.

Musty got through MOT with flying colors. Not a single issue after 8 years standstill of which 2 outside. I only replaced the rear wiper blade.

My garagist invited me to inspect Musty while on the lift.
He has a soft spot for mustangs. He owned a 87 gt once.
Only light surface rust on the chassis and k member.
The back half of the exhaust and the rear shocks are crispy. Though still fuctional. No big deal.

Just one hole to repair behind the right rear wheel. Hope to get it fixed and completely repainted later this year.
    Then replace all rubber seals.
