Ran errands on the east side of town in afternoon. Fuel 36¢ a gal cheaper over there. 2.43.
    • Pic a part visit, picked apples, fixed sis's drive gate. Good dinner too.
Then cold, rainy evening. Heater working fine. Car ran fine.

    • Antenna wires from a Ranger and an Escape for the Mustang. Antenna connector at radio is broken.
    • PS fog light keeps going out. Suspect bad wire ground connector in light housing.
    • Squeak in ds front suspension (strut?) reminds me of the ft end squeak my '67 Mustang had.

Default antenna cable, brakes, PITA leaves

    Replaced:
Antenna cable section, radio to pass side kick panel connection to outside antenna assy.
Pin, that inserts into the radio, broke off. Reception ok, but not optimum.
Needed to remove the spring loaded adapter on the outside antenna lead section behind the pass side kick panel.
This allowed a generic antenna extension cable to plug right in.

Rewired the radio memory wire (90's factory electronic DIN radio retrofit).
I rigged it years ago. Bare stripped wire end inserted with the glove box light wire into it's connector for constant 12v power.
Somehow when working on this, blew two 15a fuses.
One for the interior lighting, one for the radio main power on another circuit.
Found a spare salvaged factory pigtail with proper connectors to do finally it right.
Its a y type pigtail with one bullet and one male. Works fine.

Still mystified with the nice, slightly higher, brake pedal when stopping. Like it used to be way back when.

One day while braking on a long uphill e-way off ramp, heard a 'click'.
One of those 'red light ready to go green' apps.
This time, kept on brakes very lightly instead of on-off-on-off braking. Kept rolling slow.
Brake pedal has felt noticeably better since. Same firm feel, little higher.

Maybe something finally seated or something was binding, after many years of slightly low but firm pedal.
Even after several brake jobs. Pedal always seemed lower than it was in the 80's.
Have had slight pulsing when stopping for quite a while. Wrote off as rotor runout, replace next brake job.
No more pulse on hard stops.

It's that time of year over here. These leaves get under the moldings and into the cowl. They stick when wet.
Had to add screen under the cowl trim to keep them out of there. Track into house, car. Everywhere.
    All from neighbor's trees.

Found a place to smog my Car, Also spent some time on getting the engine running well. Wound up deciding I'm going to daily this to work when I don't need my truck because the engine is pretty solid. Today I'm going to see if I can get the SROD to shift better and work out vibrations I'm getting. I really wanted to drive this new Capri I got quite a lot, as my other Capri is in really good shape and I don't drive it that often.

Wash and a wax today and a few "nice car" or "I like that color". Clunk still there, looks like rear u-joint.

Was hoping to take it out a couple more times but wet and snow and rain, so decided to put her away for the winter.

I got h&r race springs installed on the front of my 85 gt. I have a torque arm rear suspension with the torque arm springs. When I bought the car it had cheap no name springs. The ride quality is pretty good. The car doesn't brake dive anymore. I haven't taken any turns yet since it's been raining all day and the weather is near freezing.

Right there with you. I put my 85 in the trailer last weekend for the winter. They salted the streets yesterday for some expected snow, so that means the rest of my cars are parked for the season as well

Got everything but the speedometer cable, shifter cable, and neutral safety switch removed/out/apart today... she's nose up on the ramps in the driveway, ready for the engine ('86 3.8L V6) and transmission (C5) to be yanked, hopefully soon...

Yesterday, I put the car on dollies and moved it to one side of the garage. It had been sitting at a 45 deg angle taking up both sides while is was doing the SN95 brake upgrade.

Today, got ready for the winter project and removed the door panels and the trim panels in the trunk

Also did a little planning for what I want to get done over the winter and into next spring. New shortblock going in, a few minor projects, and rebuild my proportioning valve to hopefully solve my brake problems once and for all!

Staying with Brother Larry and his wife Julie at their Becker's Cabins and Auto Camp in Beaver, Oregon. Cold, gray, wet, typically Oregon in late November. By the time I get home later today, I'll have driven the Fairmont ~240 wet but very enjoyable miles.

Finished the tail light mods for sequential turn signals on my coupe.

The tail light housings use standard 3157 bulbs and now have 3 light sockets per side, plus reverse.
