Default Is there a consensus on dash pad repair?

Just seems like a lot of contradicting info on the web. I’ve got some spray foam I was going to use but I’m not sure what to use on top. Bondo seems like it would crack immediately. I’ve read about caulk, flex seal, various other stuff. Any success stories here?

Eventually I’m going to get a new pad but I just want to avoid spending $200 on aesthetics while I get the car driving just right. I’d just like to make it look better and ditch the carpet the prior owner had on there.

I’ve got one that I’m messing with. Going to use epoxy, glazing putty.

Then I’m going to try this

Yep. My dash pad is pretty cracked up. Big crack down the center. Both outside speaker cutouts are hogged out and cracked.
I was thinking I’d fill in the center speaker completely and then figure something out for the two outside speaker cut outs.

this is what i use and it works out pretty good. get rid of the high spots in crack, fill and sand a few times. add spray texture from sem then sem dye. it usually turns out great especially if i take my time with it and sand real good and multiple coats.

Back in the day, Dr Vinyl techs knew exactly what to do and could make an unnoticeable repair for $50. These days, not sure.

Here is a write up Mike did that looks pretty good. I have not tried this technique.
