Question Sealing the Steering Intermediate Shaft to the Firewall - Is this correct?

    Hello everyone,

As I work (slowly) to complete my steering/front suspension mods, I was looking at the steering shaft boot or firewall seal. It seems, if mine is installed correctly, that the 'seal' is made by a foam ring that rides on the outside of the intermediate shaft. Is this how it works? Is there a way to improve it? - I ask because I shined a light on one side and I can see it from the other (crap).

    Thanks, Howard

Check with some of the parts places but a quickie search at NPD and LMR didn't turn anything up. Iirc the foam is correct just like the seal at the HVAC lines going thru the firewall. You may have to source a similar material and make your own new piece.
