Default 86 convert rear quarter window motor

Had problems with the rear Drivers Quarter Window not winding up or down. Could hear the Motor working, but the window was not moving up or down. Have dismantled as much as i am game to inspect possible causes. Have taken the window motor out and checked the glass was free to move and all seems ok, searched here for window motors, and not found much that has helped thus far. I have come to the conclusion that there is something chewed to pieces that should fit around the drive gear. Now in my searching, I found that a couple of 1/4" nuts could replace the Chewed pieces, and my thinking is that's ok, but what when the window reaches the fully up or down position - does the motor stop or does it just keep winding until the operator releases the switch?
Is it a good idea to use the nuts or better to buy the drive gear bushing and play it safe?

Yes, that’s exactly what you need. You can find them on eBay for about $1.00 each. I bought a gear assembly as shouwn a while back from Napa. The pins are common to all Ford power windows back to the mid 60s. I believe they may have been used on other brands too.

All good, many thanks. Ordered Power Window Motor Gear from Rockauto.com, as LMR no longer organise international shipping.
A utube video showed replacing with 7/16 nylock nuts and another used ball bearings, although they did mention as a temporary fix.
    Thanks again.
