    Default Vacuum line help

I'm slowly trying to put a jigsaw puzzle of vacuum lines back together on my 85 Saleen from the fire.
Can some one tell me where the two side by side plastic lines come from on this piece? I'm pretty sure I'm right in thinking the single line goes to the tree on the firewall?

The one that brings vac into the check valve should come from the vac tree. One of the lines in the tee should go to the vac tank under the rh fender the other should go to the heater control connection inside the car.

I agree. That’s how it’s hooked up on my 85 GT w/ 4 by carb. When my check valve went bad the air that was coming from the dash vents would switch from the dash vents to the defrost vents when accelerating and once I eased up on the gas it would switch back to the dash vents. Fix was to replace the check valve. Since yours was fire damaged yours may need replacing.

Here is a link to loads of vacuum line info. Or just search for vacuum diagram in the search part.

    Good luck!

Are you referring to the line that passes through the firewall? If so it goes to the back of the hvac controls that’s mounted on the dash.

It comes thru thru the foam pad that the Heater core tubes and the Evap Core tubes come thru. There should be a small hole that the vacuum line passes thru in the foam pad itself. Hopefully that helps.

This is why I didn't know where it went. It melted right to the foam and it's tucked under the lip of the firewall.
Please tell me I don't have to pull the dash just to replace this one vacuum line??

You can likely squeeze a hand up under the dash and unplug it from the vacuum valve, and run a new line out to the firewall connection.

IF you can pull that out towards the engine bay a few inches, you can also likely splice a good piece in place of the melted part.

Its been a while since I've had a heater box out, but look under the dash. you should see the other end connected to a vacuum actuator....

That hose should run up to the selector switch in the dash. When I had my dash out recently for a heater core job, that vacuum line ran from above my box down around the front of it behind where the glove box would be. If you can't splice onto it, I'm thinking you may be able to push a coat hanger through there carefully and tape a new hose to the end to pull back through (all with the glove box remvoed). You would have to go from engine bay to interior with the hanger before attaching the hose to pull out into the engine bay. It did not look like an easy fishing expedition...

I'll wait and see I think. I'm going to be replacing the main wiring harness under the hood too due to burnt wires. Since that comes thru the firewall on both sides of the car I'm betting the dash has to come out for that anyway.

No need to remove the dash for that FYI
