Default Does anyone have an 87, 88, or 89 Factory Service Shop Manual? Could you check this?

If you look in the the first section of Group 13, there should be a chart with the various power steering labels, such as HBC-XX. Can you look for HBC-HL?
    Thanks.

Thanks alot. For the 86 manual, it's about 3 pages in and the chart is called "Power Steering Pump Specifications".

I'm looking for my manuals. I think the wife may have stored them in the closet in the spare bedroom. We have family in from out of town and they're in there asleep. Been hectic around here. Probably should have stayed at work lol

Well, I only found a couple service manuals...one of which was for fox body cars. It's a 1991. I had older books, but they seem to have disappeared. Just for giggles, I went ahead and looked up what you were wanting and it doesn't look like anything matches what you need. Sorry! Maybe someone else will chime in. I know some of these guys on here have older shop manuals.

No problem. Thanks for trying. If you're able to, can you text me a snap shot of the page so I have it for future reference? I'll PM you my number. Thanks!

Default The chart I'm looking for

    Hello guys,
Unfortunately, I'm not the best at describing what I was I was looking for so I took a pic of the 1986 book. The chart should be right at the beginning of the chapter - this was on page 3 of Group 13 (Steering). They list out the various power steering pump models, just not mine - LOL.

If you don't mind can you take a pic of the chart and either post or I can PM you my phone for a text? I have a couple other pumps in my basement, and I just want to make sure mine came from a V8. Thanks.

Check a later Fox Factory Service Shop Manual, the 199-1993 Mustang or maybee even the LSC. Ford somtimes sells a heck load more than excepted, and have to dip into the next years inventory on special order.

The quoted seed numbers stop at HBC-GB in that manual, but as late as 1999, the same kind of pump was still being used with revised specfications

E.G Power Steering Pump Flow Rate for a 1999 Ford Taurus LX Wagon with a 3.0L Vulcan engine, which still has the earlier CII pump, is a code HBC-LT

The only other manuals you'll find it in is the other cars that used the same slipper-type CII pump.

Sadly, the flow rates are specfic to application, but a later Mustang or LSC will have the specs for the HBC-HL.

Bert at Ford Forums (http://www.fordforums.com) does sping forward some info if a request is made.

    Good point - my HBC-HL tag has a 9G (smudge) 25. So I'm assuming it's an 89 pump.

(I don't know how to do multiple quotes so I'll post another reply)

Thanks a lot of the chart! Ford basically used the same pumps in 88 as they did in 86. I'll have to try to find an 89 or 90 shop manual.

Pump rates are based on the application. That subcode will be becasue the settigs would have been produced on one run, then the next run would have other settings and applications.

Good fortune finding the exact rating. Somehere, it will exist. Ford is very specfic about its approved steering pumps for models. Its a primary safety issue.

Example for other sliper type CII was this one

    http://www.fordforums.com/f138/99-fo...estion-178368/

I'd be betting you can find the specs now.
