    Default 86 SSP Exhaust

    Hello everyone,

I am restoring a 86 SSP, LMR lists a 88-93 LX stock replacement cat back system. Any reason that kit would not fit an 86? Or does anyone have any suggestions for a stock replacement kit for a 1986?

    Thanks
    John

Other than a possible difference in hangers, I can't see any reason why the 87-93 LX kit wouldn't fit a 1986 model.

Most companies lump the 86 GT/LX in with the 87-93 LX models in regards to the 5.0 dual exhaust with the SS tips.

I used the factory 94 exhaust on my 79. I only had to add the pass rear hole in the frame to hold the hanger. All the rest were there already. It seams to fit just fine

I’d just call LMR and ask THEM what the difference is. Probably something minor that keeps them from listing it as 86-93 for the concours guys, even though it fits....

I have talked to John about this. He did call LMR and they didn't have a specific answer for him.
