Bought the car for my 16th Birthday all with my own money! I want to thank my dad (306GT) and my uncle (HissingCobra) for the help of getting her back. It's got 63,000 miles and was bone stock when we got it. We've already installed 87-93 LX tailights, a new headliner, repainted the dash pad (no cracks at all), put a white shift ball in, and we're in the process of painting all the grey exterior trim black. Some more changes to the exterior in the future will include a new GT hood decal (old one is cracked everywhere), some Weld Racing Drag-lights or Pony rims, and possibly a set of rear window louvers. I guess we could say we are a fox body family, as we now have a 79' Pace Car, 79'Cobra, 82 GT, 84 1/2' GT350, 84' SVO, 85' GT, 86' GT, and an 89' LX.

Congrats on your first car. Looks like a nice one.
Nice GT! Congrats on getting it back!
Love everything about it . . . Except the tail light choice.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments! I turned 16 in September and just bought the car at the end of October.
Very cool! Kudos to your dad and uncle for influencing you to the Fox/Four Eye world People will knock a 16yr old having a V8 sports car for their first car....tell them to worry about themselves My first car was an 82 Capri RS with a 5.0....I never had a wreck and only got one ticket at 17, my only ticket ever in one of my 5.0's. (knock on wood) Enjoy and welcome to the "addiction"!

Nice ride. My first car was a classic mustang as well( 1970 fastback). Seems you gain a lot of friends you never knew you had.

Take good care of it!
I second on the tail lights.
Also just so you are aware going black on trim is technically a downgrade. All the LX's had it. The GTs have grey with the "GT" markings. The GT markings are not available new old stock and are very hard to find in nice condition.
If you do go black, pull your GT moldings and get the LX trim that's still available new old stock. The GT trim in nice condition fetches a premium and would easily pay for the decal and the paint if not also the LX trim.
For what it is worth, personally I would recondition the grey and leave it alone...... and source some 84-86 SVO or 93 Cobra tail lights or recondition the 86's and put them back on. Stock appearing with subtle touches NEVER goes out of style.
We removed some welds from my son's 86 convertible. They look nice on foxbody Mustangs but it's rare to find the correct hub spacers. If you install them lug centric they wobble. My son's 86 was born as a Medium Canyon Red convertible with tan interior and top. It's been changed over to black exterior and top with a black leather interior rescued from a crash tested 93 then reconditioned. Lots of trim and misc parts dyed or sourced from a black interior 83 or 92-93 to match. You can't tell it from factory unless you know, which is what I mean by subtle.
Some idiot had already shot his grey trim in satin black before we got it so he's living with it. Also black decal on a black hood which is very subtle but absolutely incorrect on a black car.....
Enjoy your car. My best words of advice after owning my 1986 for 25 years is don't do anything to it you can't reasonably put back. Yes you'll have a mountain of parts you swapped off for "better" ones over the years but the stock stuff gets very hard to find as others realize their mistakes and that's where you can decide between doing a deal or keeping your parts for later.
As the old saying goes - stock never goes out of style.
