    Question 1985 GT Alternator help.

Just bought a 85 with a carb. Trying to get it running one problem I have is there no alternator. Bought one hooked and got a good shock while the car was running. I think have the red and black push connectors mixed up. Can any help with pics or instructions? Wiring is a little messy.

The alt has no negative cable, it bolts directly to the head.

The electrical section of the forum has the wiring diagrams for these cars in pdf form as stickys at the top. Since we don't know what you have for wiring, how it has been altered over the years, or how you currently have your alternator wired, we can't help much. I'd start by seeing how close your wiring is to how it is supposed to be, and go from there.
