Default New intake with cfi, idle and error codes.

Well, the Edelbrock 3721 is on and it is idling low 300rpm and I am getting an 11 on koeo and in the continuous memory I get 14,18,21?,22,31,54,61,55?, And koer gives me just a 41.

I have a paper that tells me how to program the idle but I am not sure that is actually a thing. I have only put 4 or 5 miles on it since the intake was installed. Definitely is not performing well, not terrible, but it just isn't pulling like it used to.

Ideas? I am going to pick up a new timing light, I think it is at 8 degrees right now (at least that is what the mechanic said).

Are all of those fresh trouble codes from just the 4 or 5 miles on it since the intake was installed, or leftovers from before the intake install?...

Those codes should be after the intake but before the timing was set.

I just reviewed a bunch of the idle threads on here and I have a couple plans in mind.

Disconnect the battery for a bit, warm it up and do the idle learning thing. At this point I can't decide if I should adjust that VOTM pot first to bring the idle up or advance the timing to 10 first.

PCV hooked up? I ask because I know that the PCV on my (previously CFI) 3.8L V6 is a pretty good contributor to the idle airflow/rpm... that I still need to remedy with a lesser flowing one, because my throttle plates are just barely off of shut in their throttle bores...

Yeah, I would lobotomize it, reboot with battery disconnect for a time, and then start and warm up and verify/set 10-degrees BTDC (or better, 12 or 14) with the spout shunt out. If things seem fine/better, take a spin and then check for codes again...

Yeah, that sounds good. Not sure why he set it to 8. PCV is all new.

Just timed it to 12 degrees, idle was still low and guess what! The hold down screw for the VOTM was stripped so it was sliding back on its own. Reset the computer, did the 2k idle set excersize, moved the VOTM up and put in a new hold down screw. Runs real nice again but I bet I could go to 14 on the advance as there is no sign of a ping yet. I am also going to double check all of the sensors and vacuum lines on the intake or near it. Since they had to unplug etc all of those there may be some issues hidden in there. Cold starts were not working this morning so I have to go through all of that too once the warm running is set. Seems like the cam is not engaging.

I was just looking over all of those, some are a little different from the chart in my book but not too different. I will throw the reader back on tomorrow after I drive it a bit and see what happens. That second link is great.

I have an cheapo Bosch O2 sensor on there, might that be the HEGO issue? The sensor is new the HEGO reading is not.

All fixed now, timing at 14 degrees, idles like it should, fixed the cold start issues, and guess what... Oil pressure fell and I can hear what appears to be a rod bearing failing. #@#$$##($$*#@&@

Well... just drained the oil (maybe 15 miles on it) and it is full of very fine metal. Replaced it with rotella 15w40 and oil pressure is still low. You can hear the sound in this video. Cam bearings?

Ouch... the monkeys that changed the intake did something wrong, very wrong. Bearings or wrist pins don't just all of the sudden go bad for no reason...

yeah, I am thinking sanding material in the valley. I am going to have it pulled and rebuilt, just sucks since 85k shouldn't require a rebuild.
