Default Thinking of converting to electric fuel pump

I'm thinking of blocking off my mechanical fuel pump on my '82GT....and going with a 5psi electric to feed my Edelbrock 600. any pros or cons with doing so? ..And how to I block off the 1/4 return line? TIA.

Honestly, i wouldn't. I feed mine with an Edelbrock mechanical pump. It's simple, only puts out the 6 lbs the Edelbrock carb requires without a regulator, I don’t have to deal with a means of shutting it off automatically in case of an accident, my fuel lines are not under pressure the whole length of the car, it requires no wiring, it's completely silent, it does not require a return line, etc. Unless you need high pressure fuel for fuel injection, I'd be hard pressed for a good reason to eliminate the mechanical pump.

I agree, unless you have a heavily modified engine that requires more fuel than a stock style mechanical fuel pump can provide, I see more valid reason to change to an electric fuel pump on a street car. Simple, relaible, and quiet, why mess with that?
