My garage door closes for good this Sunday after a big annual Thanksgiving poker game. I don't do anything to the cars other than make sure they have a full tank of gas, and put dryer sheets on all the tires, under the cars and under the corners of the garage door. That has kept the mice out of my garage now for 11 years.
