interior light

So, I have just about wrapped up reupholstering my headliner and took a look at the two light fixtures that hold the board up.

Ran into an issue having forgotten how this went (see the pics). The screw attaches from the outside and I am not sure about the metal piece with the holes in it. IT was 3 years ago that I took it apart. I figure I am lucky to not have more issues like this.....

Trying to figure out how this goes together. I would like this light to work.

mine is a little different. But I think it helps me a bit. I have to lift the black cap in the middle. fiddle with it some more......

think I may have figured it out. the pics shows how I think it sets up.

If anyone thinks or knows otherwise. chime in. thanks for your pics ddx77. they helped me think it out.
