    Default FOX Destroyed 28 Years Ago

    On October 17, 1989, the Loma Prieta earthquake hits the San Francisco Bay Area.
    The 6.9 earthquake, centered in the Santa Cruz Mountains. This quake happened during the World Series.

    Here was one of the casualties.

    Hopefully it was just a bad parking job, and not that someone was driving it at the time. Killer '70s porno 'stache that guy is rocking, incidentally!

    I remember seeing a red Fairmont on the bay bridge where it collapsed too.

    I had just transferred from NAS Alameda (near Oakland) the month before the quake.

    My sister was on the Bay Bridge when that earthquake happened.
    The collapsed road section was still a ways ahead of her.
    The first sign of trouble was when motorcycles started going past her in the opposite direction of traffic.
    Then people started running past her in the opposite direction.
    Then everyone just got the *@&# off the bridge.

    That driver does not look alive when they pulled it off the ledge...and the passenger looked rather bloody. Wow that had to be horrifying to experience.

    And now I see the driver did indeed die in that...the only fatality on the Bay Bridge as they try to jump it 30 minutes after the quake. Man that was a great video...I forgot how devastating that quake was, I remember watching the WS game live when it happened. Some crazy stories of survival (and passing later) in that video.
