Sometimes the beatings and bruising on the spirit are from them being shaped in ways we don't initially understand. Stay faithful that there are answers. Stay positive and strong. Take it one day at a time as that's how it comes.

prayers for you, your dad, and your family.

I hate the fact that once again I am bringing this up.

Unfortunately my father is back in the hospital once again. He was trying to go to church this morning, but was having difficulty walking and ultimately was unable to walk on his own and was complaining of kidney pain. My mother called for an ambulance and we was taken to the ER.

His doctor just saw him and it appears that he is in renal (kidney) failure. They have moved him to ICU to try and prevent him from going Septic once again.

I am home in CO and supposed to return to Austin the end of the month. I am communicating with my Mother and Sister and feeling a bit worthless at this point since there isn't much I can do to help other than pray and ask for prayers/thoughts from others.

So once again I would appreciate any all thoughts and prayers for my Father, my Mother, and my family as we work through this situation. I will try and update as I here more.

    Thanks!

Dad is settled into the ICU.

They are hooking him up to a Dialysis Machine at this time. DR says the next 24 hours are the most critical.

Today has been a better day although things considered.

Dad has gone thru two rounds of Dialysis to help reduce his swelling and obviously try and clean up all the toxins in his system. The were able to get about 1 liter out yesterday and I believe today was similar results.

His Blood Pressure and heart rate are good, but that is only because of the current medications. Otherwise both are NOT good.

They are trying to remove/replace his stint in his kidney to make sure there are no obstructions, but the kidney is so swollen they can't do it just yet. They are trying to get the swelling down at this time.

The other issue is the blood thinner Dad is on for his heart, they have to take him off the medication and wait 5 days before his blood will be able to clot and then they can do surgery if needed.

There's a chance they may move him back to a regular room late today or tomorrow, so that is a good sign for everything that is going on. Thanks once again for all the thoughts and prayers they are greatly appreciated and helpful. God Bless!

Good news is they moved Dad to a regular room late yesterday out of ICU.

They are going to try and replace the stint in his kidney today as they believe it may be partially clogged and causing part of his issues at this time.

Unfortunately he is not all there mentally right now and suffering from hallucinations, etc. All of his vitals are looking ok, but apparently the toxins in his blood stream are causing the mental issues right now.

He is scheduled for another 4 hours of dialysis today once the stint surgery is done which should be on going at this time.

Thanks again for all the well wishes and prayers they mean A LOT to me and my family.

Yesterday was a decent day for Dad. The doctors decided they needed to exchange his kidney stint to make sure it wasn't infected or blocked. That went well. The installed a plastic one instead of the standard titanium unit due to the fact the titanium ones are so expensive and have to be special ordered. The stint didn't look bad according to the doctors so that is good, but unfortunately that means its not the cause of some of his issues right now.

Dad had 4 hours of dialysis that went well. They were only trying to clean his blood and not actually remove fluid according to the doctors. Not sure why, but that is what I have been told. Dad is doing ok, but still not all there mentally which should be due to the toxins in his blood stream. A bit ornery but overall in decent spirits considering everything going on.

He is still in a regular room, but luckily my sister and brother-in-law have been taking turns staying with Dad to help my Mother out. Since he's not fully aware of everything he keeps trying to get up and move around at night and trying to mess up his IV's etc. so someone in the room is a necessity to prevent him from hurting himself.

Hopefully today is a good day, I don't have any additional updates at this time and am awaiting a text or phone call to give me the latest. Thanks again!

Thanks once again to all the members here and via PM that have sent their prayers and well wishes. My Dad, my family, and I greatly appreciate it.

Update on Dad, he is doing ok/better at this point. He did Dialysis for over 4 hours on Friday that didn't go well. They had to remove the temporary/emergency dialysis lines in his legs because one of them was kinked and wasn't working. They are looking at installing a Permacath in his neck for the dialysis lines, but nothing has been confirmed just yet.

It appears they are going to do a nephrostomy ?? (urine bag on the hip) to help with kidney function. The doctor wants to do this because the stent in Dad's kidney has to be replaced every 6 months and that require general anesthesia where the other only requires a local even though it has to be changed every 4 months. Still trying to understand what affect this has on dialysis requirements/etc. The same issue of having 3-4 specialist doctors and yet NO General Practitioner to help manage all that they want to do.

Dad is still in the hospital and probably will be most if not all of next week depending on how the two procedures go and how he responds. He is stable and becoming more cognitive than before, but overall his condition is only marginally improved. Family is in good spirits all things considered, but as usual the future is unknown and ever changing.

I am scheduled to fly back down to TX on the 30th to finish working on their house and help out as much as I can. Hopefully next week goes well, the surgeries are a success, and his condition continues to improve. Thanks everyone once again for allowing me to post this and thanks again for all the prayers and concerns. God Bless!

I first saw this thread a few weeks before Christmas. I have been praying for you and your family since then. I feel like I'm supposed to tell you Trey, God is still in the miracle business! My friend Kelly broke his leg last Saturday night, went to the ER, they took X -rays, which showed it broken in 2 places. He received prayer for healing last Sunday night (about 24 hours after the fall). He went to the orthopedic surgeon Monday, who took more X-rays, which showed NO breaks in his leg! Hallalujah! My wife's cervix was healed and she was able to have our two youngest son's! I was set free from addiction! My father was set free from addiction! Glory to God! God IS still in the miracle business!! My family will be praying for yours. May God Bless you and your family!

Thanks again to everyone for the thoughts and prayers, they are greatly appreciated!

Update on Dad, they removed his stent last week and after sending it to the lab, determined that is was infected and most likely is the cause again for this round of ER, ICU, hospital stay.

The doctors have decided that due to his stent requiring replacement every 6 months and him having 3 stents in the last couple of years get infected within 4 months that its time to bypass the stent issue and go to a nephrostomy bag. Essentially for those that don't know this is a urine bag that is connected to him via tubes. They are scheduled to do the surgery today at 2pm CST. Everything should go well without any issues, but as with anyone that is in poor health, has heart issues, etc. there are always the possibilities of complications. We are all praying for a successful surgery and quick recovery.

The tubes for the nephrostomy bag have to be replaced every 4 months, but that can be done with local anesthesia rather than a general so it is much safer for Dad and there seems to be less chance of infection in most cases with this setup. I will update once again later today when I get word that he is out of surgery and recovering. Thanks!
