    Default 1984 GT vert

Been looking for a coupe and ran across this 84 GT, everything works as it should apart from the A/C. Interior is OK and the top is new. Car drives fine with no apparent issues. HE is asking $4000.00. Any one know what these are worth?Name: 00R0R_iCwsNA3GKwr_1200x900.jpg

I'm selling my black/grey/black 84 GT vert but mine is a 5 speed. I think he might be a little high but he's probably in the ballpark.

I would take a closer look. I see a cheap replacement top with a plastic window and not glass. Newer dual exhaust. Missing speaker cover on the door. Newer wheels. 84 5.0 and auto means it's a CFI unless it's been changed over to carb or seri. Most people would pass on CFI.

Don't run away from the CFI unless you're looking to modify the engine. I had it in mine, and it ran great. If you're just cruising it, like I did, then the fuel injection works well, it's efficient and easy to start and run. If you want to turn the engine into a heavy performer, then the CFI engine isn't good for you. If that's what you're looking for, though, then you'd probably want a hard top. I'd have loved a 5-speed, though, not so much for the carb but for the fun of it. In terms of power, the carb and injected engines are pretty much the same (I recall the carb rates 10 more hp, torque the same).

In terms of value, I agree on the cheaper top, but that's only a problem for you if you plan to run with the top up a lot. My top was pretty beat, but I didn't care because I only put it up when I got caught in the rain or to park it. A new top is a plus, they're about $1,500 to replace. The paint looks good, check for flaws in it because a cheap overspray can look good for a few years then it all comes off. So check for signs of a cheap paint job (overspray, obvious signs of sloppily masked off areas, drips or excessive orange peel). If it runs well, no smoke, then no worries about having to run the gremlins out of the CFI system. Once it runs well, it's easy to keep running that way as the computer will clue you in when something is wrong. It looks like single exhaust, which is what the car came with. If it's dual exhaust you'll want to check underneath to make sure they did it right as you can't just add duals to that car without changing the cross-member, and moving a few hoses around the rear end (which some folks neglect to do).

Other than that, $4k is right in the area. The CFI does make it worth less as most folks like a stick shift, but with a convertible cruiser I think you'll be perfectly happy with the CFI. If it all checks out, it looks like a pretty nice car for $3-$4k.
