Have you looked at the plugs? Is this on a 302?

Look and see what size jets are in there when you get it apart. That 650 should be plenty carb for your situation. There are many varieties of the Holley 650...which one is it?

Stock, what Holley put in them when new, is a good safe baseline place at least to begin with. What's it's LIST # on the front of the choke horn, 4777, 4777-X?

I set the carb on before tear down. Cant use my heat shield. need to move throttle bracket back 1/2 inch.

Whats thoughts on what side to have the fuel line? It clears on the drivers side.

heres what I ended up with. went 1 size smaller front and rear. Still need to relocate the cable bracket but it is already running better than before.
Had a hell of a time getting the fuel inlet on the rear to stop leaking. Bowl looks from a diff carb.

One thought: If you don't already, you need to realize that the primary and secondary float/fuel levels are not the same. The sight plugs in each bowl, the fuel levels, the primary is about 1/8" higher than the secondary, and needs to be and is supposed to be for correct (and safe, most importantly at WOT) circuits' function and air:fuel ratio, so switching the bowls like that, back to front, your primary fuel level will be too low (lean all over, and delayed primary main circuit booster startup) and the secondary fuel level too high (rich all over, and early secondary main circuit booster startup). Not good, and there's no easy way around that, short of drilling and tapping new sight holes on the passenger side at the correct levels. I'd switch them back.

Thats how I received the carb. I didnt realize it or that it would be a problem. I did think of swapping them but didnt want to make changes. Maybe it would have corrected a problem.
