    Default 1986 chp makeover

As some of you may have read my CHP was chosen for a makeover. I have yet to decide how far im gonna take it yet. Once i dismantle will kinda see how good/bad the bones of the car will be. It appears car is super solid but you never know. P.O of car appeared to have hit something which bent core support downward unsure if it is repairable or not will have tear down front to see. Other bad part was drivers door. Here is some pics of when i got the car, with the help of my buddy matt (onetrackrider). And i suppose this will be the offical makeover thread!

Here is what has been done so far. Matt cleaned up a door panel which looks great will have to do for now as these are next to impossible to find.

The sticker in the window has been so optimistic for so long. Maybe this year will be a Goodyear!

Please tell me this one did not come from the same P.O. that my car did. If so, go through it with a fine tooth comb and good luck buddy, you WILL need it.

Are you sure those are Aero seats? They look different to me, especially the seat back. They almost look like a couple of seats I saw in some Ford Rangers at the yard.

    Can't argue that point.

What did Matt use on the door panels? Those came out amazing compared to what they looked like before.

They sell it by the gallon jug, 5 gallons, 30 gallons and 55 gallon drum. We buy it at work by the 30 gallon drum.

Good stuff I tell ya....even if it is not as environmentally friendly as they claim it is.

I may be completely wrong, but are you 100% sure those "Aero" seats are not the original seats for the car?

I thought I remember at one point there being an optional seat for the SSP cars that was more like the sport seats, but not with as thick bolsters to make it easier for the officers to get in and out of the cars with all their gear, but had the leg extensions for better comfort. Again, I may be completely wrong on that, but I swear I remember something like that. It Might have been the Aero cars that had that option, but I would still make absolutely sure before I trashed anything just because you "think" its wrong.

Wow! Matt does good work when you can get him to do any! The door panels look great!

    See my thread here: http://vb.foureyedpride.com/showthre...Support-Repair

The core support is fairly easy to manipulate, the hard part is getting the right leverage.

Save the original door, and have it reskinned. CHP's have a unit number welded into the door jamb.

Don't lose that, at any cost. That number is your car's identity.

That interior cleaned up nicely! I agree about doing all you can to keep that door with the CHP unit number.
