Silver 85-86 get raccoon eyes and the charcoal at the top of the doors and in the sail panels and other areas near the windows.
Basically think of an 85GT that’s all Stock. Now delete the GT hood stripe. Add the Saleen body kit shot in body color.
Shaking my fist at the car gods as SCOA goes on without me. Maybe next year...... (damn it)
thats a much better reason than all the things that have went wrong on the build and around it.... then the crate motor disaster above......
We probably could have thrashed and made it, but the crate shortblock being all messed up sealed the deal. I almost just bought piece of crap mcparts engine to drop in, but I don't know what I would have done with it after I was done with it!
Sweet! Nice work Trey! Sorry to see that piss poor excuse for a crate job on the motor erratic50. Hopefully they will do right by you.
Looks pissa!really good color choice too..can’t wait to see it all done.
So ... do you really k ow the engine was damaged, or just returned it because the packaging was askew .
Looks that the parts were 8n the box .....
My bet is they send you back the same stuff .

Yes, the standard charcoal grey accent color that was standard on all 85/86 Mustangs. As mentioned, the headlight buckets, all the body side moldings, the sail panels, the upper window and quarter window areas, mirrors, windshield/back window molding, and cowl. The car will also get the Saleen 3 color stripes on the sides in the dark grey/medium grey/silver too.
I am still blown away at the poor excuse for packaging.
You and Me Both! I am sure James too! The project has taken more time than I expected, but the pictures don't do the car justice. The lines are clean, straight, and it looks Awesome in the sun!
No we were not able to determine if the engine was actually damaged, Unfortunately CHP's policy is that if we accept the shipment its all on Us! So due to there being no way to be sure the engine, flywheel, balancer were NOT damaged we had to refuse deliver. Luckily I was able to get the driver to open the box so we could see how poorly the engine and parts were packaged. I can not guarantee because again all we could do was look inside, but it didn't appear that there was even any blocking under the engine. It appeared to be strapped straight down to the pallet! The entire assembly was balanced using a new balancer and James' flywheel that we shipped out. We spent more time and money packaging the flywheel for shipment to them then they did shipping it back. Truly Sad!

Sail Panels on White & Red Saleens were repainted body color... That's probably what they would've done with silver too.

^^ I was thinking the same thing
Saleen never built a Silver one so that leaves it a bit open to artistic interpretation.
The charcoal 1985-007 car — the very first production Saleen as the 3 1984’s were prototypes — had the sail panels and window trim done exactly how we have planned to build this silver fox which has been jokingly dubbed “1985-006”
We thought about making the sail panels silver but the roof trim would not get changed like was the case on the white and red cars. It makes the trim color scheme look a bit confused in our opinions. That’s why we thought to do it the way we have it planned out.
zoom in on the beautiful Medium Canyon Red 1985-035 pictured below.
We thought about taping off on the roof trim to make it work with silver sail panels, but in the end thought the silver car needed a little bit of its factory contrast from the side.
Open to thoughts and opinions before the paint is sprayed, but I’m pretty sure on the logic behind the decision.

I am 1/2 tempted to flip the stripe kit over so it’s installed silver up but the stripes in front are angled the opposite of what’s needed for that to look right.
Interesting how some cars have the 302 badging on the hood while some do not.
My initial opinion was charcoal sail panels look better than having the trim charcoal and a body color sail panel causing that black line in the body appearance above the sail panel
Thought about solutions: we could tape off and paint that part of the trim body color.
We could also paint all of that trim body color.
Thoughts and ideas?

I like 007 car ,just my opinion , looks as it was planned,.
The drip rail different is out of place with body colored sails .
It is yours , and will look just fine from my place .

Have you decided what colour the sail panels will be?

+1 on charcoal trim/sail panels. The sail panels aren't functional in any way, so pretty much the whole point is for contrast.
1985 GT owned since new
Looks awesome! Love silver. Don't necessarily love blending it. What are you shooting it in? Is that a shelf and bench in your booth?
