    Default S&W cage thru the dash help

    My search function wont work for some reason. Have a S&W cage thru the dash, and would like some examples of how to make it look finished. The PO just hacked away until it fit. I have another shell to try. Trying to build a street car for my son.

    Does it go down through the dash pad?

    Personally I think it's a great idea -- keep the kiddo safe. Now remove the pushrods off the intake valves on at least 4 cyl too.....

    Ins rates go up IF they know there is a cage in the car... If you tell them.

    The insane part is that if people actually knew the statistics behind survival rates in caged cars vs cars without few would argue with the advantages of a cage. Imagine all of the needless pain and suffering and medical bills avoided via cage and 5 point restraints.

    Or - heck - just look at subframe connected vs not. Strut towers braced vs not, etc.

    its 2017 - why the heck don't we have this whole concealed cage thing figured out? Just sayin.

    What! If you (generic, not necessarily the thread originator) think that your son needs a roll cage to survive street driving, scrap the car, buy him a bus pass, then consider how poorly you've raised him.

    For one thing, it could be pretty cool.

    Secondly, think of how much more stiff our flexible flyers would be with a cage.

    And now for the rest of the story.....
    I have owned the 85 for years, over 16, bought off Ebay as a stripped roller with the cage already in it. Got married, had kids, have never done anything with it. Body was straight, so hung onto it. Son is 11, and showing interest in cars. Just found a rusted out 89 GT with some extras. So I want to combine the cars, and am finally asking questions to resolve why I never did anything with the 85.
    What's going to come of this, no clue, will it be his everyday car, NO, but we have cruise ins, and sunny days, AND the 85 will at least become a runner.
