In my opinion there is not much of anything that is more faithful to its owner than a good black Lab.

From a former Altoona Ia. resident, and owner of several labs, I am truly Sorry for your loss.

Thanks guys. Altoona? Do you get home much? That's just barely down the road. He was a good ol' shelter dog, he let the kids poke him in the eye reach in his mouth and pull his tail. If he ever had enough he just got up and walked away.

Sorry for your loss Shane. I hate hearing that as animals are always as close, if not closer than most family members. I worry about this day coming for my dog as she just turned 9 yesterday. Being half Lab and half American Bulldog the avg lifespan is around 10-13 years for both breeds. I've had her since she was 8 weeks old and she was my only close family for 3 years I was away from the rest of the family due to work. It will kill me when it is her time to go.

Sorry for your loss. We lost our chocolate lab Steelie about a year and a half ago. She was a great dog. Even though we have other dogs, I still miss her to this day. She was special.

Sorry to hear this. They are one of the rare examples we have in life to unconditional love. They all seem to love their owners in a way that emulates to the best of K9 ability how only the greatest parents love their children. I think of their example often and am constantly humbled by it. Our Deepest sympathy! Prayers have been said in honor and memory.

Sorry to hear about your loss.

As painful as it is to let go, we must. We had a Siberian Husky live to 16 and got two more a few months after we lost her because it was so quiet without a pet around. After these two though, we do not plan on another. I feel it would be too painful to go through it again
