Tank straps look fine from here!
Dang rust always finds places in configurations tough to fix.
Interesting checkpoints on the QC sheet.
Pretty certain TRX cars came with non-trx spares.

Actually the underside is much better than I feared. Definitely nasty and filthy, but all fixable. I assumed that the spare was probably the same for most Capri/Mustangs just not sure especially since the tire is a Goodyear. Makes me think it was replaced, but I have no idea

Alot of work, but I believe its doable. Documentation is cool since I normally don't buy cars that have much if any!

You are a brave man...but I commend you! I will be very interested to see how this one turns out. My first car was an '82 tu-tone brown & beige version of this...sans the t-roof. That was way back in '87....

Thanks! Apparently I didn't have enough project Foxes right now and needed another one! Luckily I have most of the parts to fix this one including another hood, hatch, and roof. I can cut patch panels for the floors from a couple of parts cars here too. Now it is just finding the time to get it all done!

Love it. The rust on the roof is the part that would scare me. Everything else is doable with my abilities. But the roof, especially a T roof. Ugh. Like I said before, so glad you got it. It so needs saved as it is very salvageable with the right skill set. And love the documents with the car. That is so cool!!

    Wow - quite a score!

I am headed out to look at an 86 factory sunroof roller tomorrow. Low miles rust free body robbed of its drive train for another project. I struggle with the thought of killing my 86 to save another, but really they are all mostly the same.... mine is stupid rusty.

I also think I just might have enough parts on hand to fix this one and make it a driver while I work on mine if nothing else. It's headed for the crusher if I don't buy it. That also bothers me.

Oh sure Trey! Buy and start another project to get us distracted from your 82 build.

That poor fella looks rough, almost like it lived in my neck of the woods most of its life. Glad you are going to try and save it.

I'm not an expert on the spare, but looking at what you have....all of it, including the blue jack, sure looks original.

THREE WHOLE DAYS!!!! I can't believe it took 3 days for you to finally post in this thread! I figured you of all people would harass me right from the start about another 82 build when the first one isn't DONE!

Actually I was going thru FOX Withdrawals being down here in TX and not being able to work on my GT, so . . . . I Bought another project!

Yes, this poor Capri needs some Love and Attention, but my Dad was a TV repairman and has a KILLER set of Tools! So I think I am good!

Had the starter tested last night and it checked out well, so going to put some new battery cables on it soon, new oil, new starter solenoid and see if it will actually run or not!

Sorry to disappoint! I haven't been online for a few days as I have been down and out sick. It's always nice when the kids go back to school but it never fails that they bring home some sort of sickness in the first couple weeks.

Can't wait to see where this one goes. Hopefully she runs.

This sounds like an episode of Roadkill. You should get another member and roadtrip it 2000 miles and film it.

Don't tempt me right now! My Best friend from HS has been out helping me with it and now that we verified that it will start up and run, he wants to get it back on the road today!

That's cool to know! Thanks! The plan is as original as possible right now. I have to fight my inner Mod the Heck out of it Demons, but so far so good. Part of me wants to throw a 4bbl intake and carb on it, but I haven't decided for sure just yet. I will dual out the exhaust and put the SS tips on because they look SO much better IMHO. Other than that, I am trying to leave it as much original as possible. If I do swap out any parts, I will keep all the originals just in case.

Haven't tried this before, but let's see if it works.

Video of the Capri starting and running. The engine actually sounded quieter and smoother than it does in the video. Short run time as the water pump is locked up and the fuel pump is not even hooked up due to rot in the lines.

Thats Roadkill Material. Get one of those $10 electric fuel pumps at autozone and a waterpump and drive that thing to Maine. Or at least around the block.

Sounds like you're went from having a blast to nearly starting riot - those ponies sound REALLY anxious to stretch their legs.

I love this stuff.... now if my new toy just had a drivetrain in it!

I may need to just collect correct 85 running gear and install my low miles 1990 long block in it along with a T5. That plus paint and cleaning and it would make it nice. Albeit a driver.

i might try to track down and buy my 85's original drive train-- time will tell.

Was able to work on the RS for about an hour this evening so I decided to pull out the carpet to see how bad the floor pans really are!

The passenger side footwell area. Crusty and ugly, but no actual rot thru.

So honestly overall, I am surprised that the rust isn't worse than it is. Definitely going to need some work to repair what's rotted out, but not a full set of pans. I believe I am going to cut a patch from one of my donor cars to repair the driver side seat mount and seat riser. The hole on the passenger side I will most likely cut a patch for also. There is also a small hole under the rear seat on the passenger side, but that will be a simple metal patch. I will use Eastwood Rust Encapsulator on everything and make sure that everything is sealed up and converted before wrapping it all up.
