We are in a 70% zone in Conn.
A local morning news showed a neat way of creating an image
through binoculars mounted on a camera tripod.
Here is my rendition next to the Capri.

So I pre-gamed my camera setup for the eclipse tomorrow...Even though we are about 50-50 odds on being clear. They are saying 93-94% totality here, so I should be able to get some pretty great pics if it's clear. I'm shocked at the pics I can get from my setup, down to "individual sunspots are visible" detail.

Not sure if I should go with the 1/250 sec exposure of the 1/320 sec exposure. My wife likes the 1/320 better; I like the 1/250 better.

I wonder what Frank Zappa's daughter has planned for today.

Best I can do with the equipment I had at work. It was much more impressive in person. we had about a 98% coverage.

I'm either real old or real lucky! This is the second "once in a lifetime event" that I have seen. Both in the same city. Guess what! This one looked just like the first one. Go figure!

was cloudy here but managed to get some cool shots - being in Tampa it sounds like I didn't have near the totality that everyone else did

Our max was 70 % at 2:45, got out of work at 2:30, 30 min ride, so I missed by 15.

http://www.puresimplicity.net/~hemi/...lipse-2017.gif is an animation comprised of most of the good images I shot of the eclipse, stabilized/aligned (by hand, ugh). It's 31M big, so I linked instead of included directly as an image. It may restart a few times before you get all eighty-three frames to play sequentially.

I'll crank out a smaller, faster-loading one sometime today.

That is a very cool piece of work.

We were in the 100% zone. Watched it from the front yard. Going in, I thought it would be neat but nothing spectacular. Boy was I wrong. It was tremendous to see the eclipse at 100%, getting dark (though not as fully dark as I expected), streetlights on, stars in view, etc. I'm a very un-emotional guy, but this was quite a moving experience. Many people on the news shows said similar things. I'm waiting for someone to do an analysis and write an article why it struck so many people so deeply.

Eight hours to Madras, Or. - no problem
Total eclipse - pretty amazing. Anxiously waiting to get my film developed.

21 hours of traffic to get home - crazy (Except for the redhead climbing out of her car !)

Should have planned better and stayed for the Cascade Air Show & car show
The WW2 era planes flying in was an awesome bonus to the weekend.

I love how this event was hyped as a once in a lifetime event...but yet in 7 years we get to do it all over again from Texas up to Maine And Cape Girardeau, Paducah and Carbondale will be totally eclipsed again.
