    Default Kicker dash speakers

What are good dash speakers that fit in a 82 gt? Kicker?

I don't know about an 82, but in an 85 the kicker would not be a good place for a speaker. On the drivers side, there is a lot of stuff behind it that would interfere.

Installed these 2 years ago. Ordered direct from Harmon.

Great clear sound. Front high pass crossover is about 90hz-up. No clearance problem. Direct no issue install.
I did remove all the old dash foam in both front cutouts and glued speaker cloth under the holes for reinforcement.
Using a retrofitted 1993 Ford Escort din factory am/fm non cassette radio amped thru a JBL 4ch x 50w rms amp.
System is rewired with new larger twisted pair type speaker wire. OEM speaker wiring was left intact, no longer used.

Kicker k series is very nice. +1 on the foam mod

or you could get a 3.5" driver with separate tweeter. Mount the tweeters in the AC vents. I've used this setup for 25 years.

The Kickers will fit, but in my experience not without minor mods to your dash. I have a pair of Kicker KSC3504 3.5" in my '84 GT. The passenger side magnet is pushing down a little bit on the right side HVAC duct, but it fit. The driver side is another story. The depth and diameter of the magnet causes it to hit on the dash plastic right behind where the cluster recesses into it. I was able to carefully use a heat gun to warm up the dash plastic while pushing the speaker into place. There is enough clearance between the cluster and the dash plastic that it won't cause a fit issue as long as you don't make the bulge any bigger than it needs to be. Do it carefully, and you can't even tell that it wasn't meant to be there.

I put the same speakers in Susie's car and found the same clearance problem. I shimmed the speakers up enough to clear using neoprene foam left over from covering the air doors in her heater.

Similar speakers in two cars, identical in one no fitment issues. We shall see what happens when they go into my 85.
